Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

would you rather:

have to kill a large spider with just your bare hands/feet

or have to let it crawl all over your body for five minutes

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
is this a poisonous spider

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
spiders aren't poisonous. they're venomous

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
ty anon

i always cringe when nature documentaries use them interchangably

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
killing it would probably provoke it to try and bite

let it crawl on me tbh, so long as i know where it is at all times/is easily removable after five minutes and it doesn't try to bite me

i like most arachnids though, so.

+1

i have two tarantulas and i'd love to let them crawl on me but they're babies and skittish

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm not especially bothered by either but i find smashing things kinda gross so i guess i'd go with crawling on body

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
is it poisonous, is it going to stay away from ears and hair, and do i have to look at it while it's crawling

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
let it crawl on me. i don't like spiders, but i'm not particularly afraid of them. the crawling would be gross but i think having bug guts on my hands or feet would be much nastier.

SPIDERS ARE NOT POISONOUS

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
they're venomous. venom = injected via teeth or spikes or what have you, poison = on the body and must be touched manually.

that said, let one crawl all over me. spiders don't want to waste venom on something that isn't attacking, they rarely bite at random and they even have the option of holding back on their venom.

fuck arachnophobes

you know, it's not exactly fun being an arachnophobe. it's not like i woke up one day and went, 'You know, I think I'll suddenly develop a debilitating fear of spiders. That sounds like a nifty keen idea.' considering my stupid fear has caused me to almost cause a car wreck as well as almost killing myself trying to jump out of a moving car as well as having me give myself a concussion trying to get away from them, all as instant reactionary moves that i have no control over, i think i get to be the one that says fuck arachnophobia.

not to mention the fact that spider encounters (yes, that's what i call them) leave me feeling anxious and paranoid for the rest of the day that it's going to happen again along with the sudden bout of screaming, crying, and instant anxiety/panic that i get from seeing/dealing with them, it's not exactly a fucking walk in the park. even worse when people with dickish attitudes think it's 'funny' to pretend there's a spider on you or bring them around/throw them on/at you because 'ha ha, look at how she reacts ha ha, that's so funny'.

sorry. i ranted. but i'm just tired of people brushing it off like it's some fucking choice i made when i was younger. 'What do you want to be afraid of when you grow up, pumpkin? Spiders, rats, puppies, or tinfoil?'

(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
i'd rather be murdered tbh

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
i'd let it run around on me but only if it's a really big spider, like a tarantula or something. i don't like spiders at the best of times but i can deal with them and i don't like mashing things up

having a tiny spider on me and losing track of where it's got to/maybe squishing it is a horrible thought though

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"would you rather kill a living creature or let it coexist peacefully with you, then probably proceed to eat the pests that actually want to bite you"

gosh i wonder :\

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
i hope it was a brown recluse

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
save all the spiders, swathe myself in them gently, never get a mosquito bite again

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
KILL THE MOTHERFUCKER

and then feel guilty
