Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

When did the pace change? I'm not seeing it. It's the same event, event, event, event, event, event pace it's always been. As soon as the characters got back from the Rift event, they had to deal with digging the campus out of the jungle that formed. Immediately after that, the train crashes.

So yeah, what change of pace?

More like the mods said they were taking our criticisms but flaked out on actual change. They lied. AYRT hasn't been paying attention or has their nose up mod ass.

2 events in a row that were easily opt-outable (the carnival and the rift tears that your character doesn't even have to see or care about), which covered a month, the rift, and then the jungle which is easily ignored if your character just stays on campus so they don't get attacked by snakes. Next week is all player plots which you can also ignore if so desired.

Not looking forward to the slew of player plots

Oh yeah, the option of sticking with the same pace there's always been or falling behind while you ignore everything. Great choice.

The fucking events were supposed to be slowed down. They weren't. Telling us to ignore events (especially ignoring a Rift event, are you fucking high?) was not the solution we asked for.

the mods really screwed us with their inept "solution"

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
There wasn't a solution, period, inept or otherwise.

"We'll listen" and then nothing happened.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-25 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it was just inept modding, period.

Ayrt wasn't telling you to ignore the rift event. They were telling you to ignore the events in the week prior to that, when there were tears/ripples in reality.

I don't actually know what the problem is with the pacing. From where I'm sitting, the mods did listen. Smaller events you can opt out of (as ayrt explained) alternating with big events. Having weeks where absolutely nothing happens, which I guess is what you're asking for, isn't feasible when we only have six months before delta starts. That's three IC months. That's 12 IC weeks at most. If the mods get rid of the smaller events altogether and replace them with weeks of nothing, that leaves us with half--just six events before the scheduled setting change.

EV was at this pace during beta. The events were better during beta, but it's the same damn pace of small event/large event. There were several weeks in gamma where it was nonstop action (the desert and then the public torture thing right after each other) and that is when people started complaining about the pacing, and rightly so. The mods then scaled it back, as people requested.

If you don't want small event/large event pacing, which is actually what most people were asking for on that discussion post iirc, then what do you want?

In my personal opinion, the problem with the game isn't the "pacing." That's fine. The way the game is set up with its bi-weekly scheduling, which is the primary reason it seems so stagnant and same-y, even if the events are different. "Days 1-7: Event" every 14 days is what's making it seem so overwhelming and nonstop, but the mods were very clear they weren't about to change how they have things set up. A write-up that says "Days 1-6: nothing; Day 7: event" appears more stressful than just having a single write-up for the Day 7 event like most games do, but it's the exact same thing.

But if you don't like the way things are going, you can just leave. No one is chaining you to the wall. I didn't feel like the way things are scheduled were working for me, so I dropped. My problem wasn't with the pacing, which is fine for a fast-paced, plot-driven game. My problem was with the stagnation and the way the mods refuse to shake things up. But ultimately it's their game and they can do what they want with it, so I dropped. If you are this unhappy with the game, what's keeping you there? If you're there "because I like my CR," then you're part of the dreaded clique problem. If you're there for the events, then you must not dislike the game as much as you say. Actions speak louder than words; if you're unhappy, drop.

ah yes what an excellent and thoughtful discourse of opinion you've brought to this conversation

truly enlightening, anon. please do elaborate further on the technique of your crushing retaliation to the points ayrt has raised
