newest one i've been itching to play isn't setting specific.

clever, manipulative, withdrawn beneath an extroverted front, road to hell is paved with good intentions etc. wants to be a revolutionary, basically. enigmatic, some degree of emotional volatility.

trepidations - intellectual character, inclined towards formality. don't want to powerplay smarts or make him so closed off that it's not fun to play with.

would love to play his moral grays (and attempts towards moral whites) off of a gray character more inclined to the other end of the scale. would also guilty pleasure love to play romance with him but TOO EMBARRASSED to ever make that happen probably. OTL

would also love to play him off people who don't mind their characters being manipulated to a degree, since that's a touchy issue for some people.

I've actually got two OCs myself who hide behind fronts, and both are morally grey, though one's more on the "good" side while one's a big manipulator himself. I am actually totally into having my "good" OC being manipulated into doing something darker and giving into his more greyer urges, so what you're offering sounds awesome to me!

(And hey, I'm totally up for guilty pleasure manipulative romance, if our characters click. :D)

This one. Crane spirit from an original 'myth' I created based around actual Japanese and Buddhist myths/folklore. He's been cursed with blindness by Benzaiten for his extreme vanity and more than 1500 years later he's still throwing himself a private little pity party, though he has managed to get himself out into the world again, posing as a human because a blind crane in the wild would be screwed way more than a blind human.

I'm looking to app him to High Seas - I already play two characters there and know I'd like him in the game - but he was created roughly 8 years ago and I haven't played him in at least 5, I think? I also never wrote down anything beyond his creation myth/quick background and I can't find any of the old logs I had from when I played him over AIM. Sadly, that means I'm having to re-explore the personality as I go. I have him on the test drive over there, but I'd love to do some memes with him to help me get back into his voice.

I don't mind a little bird spirits brotime. fair warning, this guy comes from 1322 AD, during the very late Kamakura period of Japan. So he's not exactly familiar with anything your stork will be. they can still brotime, though.:)

EDIT: probably should have asked if you had a meme or musebox in mind, and if not what kind of brotimes you're in the mood for so I can set something up. Sorry about that.

ah, i wasn't sure what time period you actually wanted to play him from!

I don't mind bending things a little, time-line wise, if you're interested in having more a modern era brofest.

giant (aka nephilim) girl with major self-esteem issues who was left to fend for herself from a young age and is hung up on trying to be a Model Minority

She's from a Biblepunk setting (which i've talked about anon a couple times), which assumes as true most of the sillier fundamentalist christian theories about the antediluvian world. So there's a veil of water in the upper-ish atmosphere around the entire planet, dinosaurs walk the earth side-by-side with humans, angels come down to bang cute ladies, those ladies give birth to people who grow up to be excessively tall and generally rather rude and in need of having stones slung at their foreheads by kids named David, stuff like that. Y'know.

Also bullshit science about the veil of water greatly increasing atmospheric pressure making megafauna and bronze-age dirigibles vaguely almost plausible, because bronze-age dirigibles fuck yes.

Anyway, Eleria herself is daughter of an angel and a human priestess; the angel eventually flitted off when Eleria's mom was completely burned out by its holy flames. (banging angels is a bad idea but they are so beautiful, and supernatural, that people do it anyway.) Mom died from self-neglect, leaving her "oh all giants are violent troublemakers, and that girl'll be, too, just you wait" daughter to tend to the family farm all on her own until she reached biblepunk adulthood and took off to try and find someplace where she can just... live, and not bother people, and not be bothered by people. She doesn't want to be a bad person or a troublemaker.

This makes her crushingly shy and yielding and self-conscious, because she doesn't want to prove people right about her-- and it's proving people right if she argues or stands up for herself, because then she's causing trouble, etc. She is not a happy person. But I love her so much.

it really really is negl. i've been vaguely working on a setting bible but what i have up there is really the heart of it; everything else is details.

(but the details are things like "being a giant grasshopper rancher is a legit career choice" or "pet velociraptors: totally a thing!" so they're still great.)
