Unfunny wanky stereotypes
Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)the main thing i can suggest is that he needs to be active and involved in the game, especially if there's a metaplot. the doctor is someone who sticks his nose into everything--he'd be all over trying to defeat the bad guys, build solutions, or even just chat up everyone he sees and get to know them. he loves humans. getting him involved in the plot is just as important; it's what he does. there's some leeway because it's probably impossible to play him as everywhere at once, but too often i've seen doctors stick to close cr only or ignore events.
the doctor is endlessly fascinated by humans (and other aliens. and just about everything else.). he's good at reading people and sort of nudging things along, but he's much more reserved about talking about himself. he'll talk, and talk, and talk, but he won't say anything important. maybe a throwaway detail, but he's more likely to change the subject so quickly you don't notice than allow someone to question him about his past.
he does of course have a darker side. he's proven himself capable of doing terrible things. he can lose his temper and it's not pretty. don't play these things up. he's angry and dark when he can't be anything else, but he doesn't want to be. even the "grim and serious" ninth doctor was a goofball most of the time. when he can at all avoid it, he will. likewise, he's very clever and creative and knows a lot. he's not infallible. the doctor's knowledge is encyclopaedic, he can tell you the exact makeup of that chair over there, but he has been wrong and often is (his first guesses often tend to be). there are things he doesn't know. much of the time, his companions act as his emotional intelligence: donna in pompeii, amy and the star whale. he can be wrong, he can miss things, he is not infallible.
