Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. mod question

would you allow one player to app robert AND rosalind together or would you insist that they're played by two people?

Played by two different people, I think. They're different characters with different motivations and upbringings.

I honestly think they be the most fun played by one person, but the other anon is right.

The differences would probably lead to needing them apped separately played by different people.

It depends.

I've played a Robert solo and played them together. Speaking as a player it's certainly easier to play them together, especially if you have no one to app with. But they do have enough differences to be played individually.

It's up to you really. If it fits your game to have them individually then make that the rule. It's possible for a player to play like that, it's just a little tricker for them.

wouldn't allow it. they're AU counterparts, their differences are also a part of the game. they have slightly separate personalities and want different things.

there's not enough that makes them the same to justify it. you'd also have set a precedent that would make it hard for you to justify saying no to someone wanting to apply for twins in a canon or mcu iron man and comics iron man.

they're AU counterparts

this. they aren't the same character, they're more like twins than anything else.

Not really sure where these "they have personalities that are too different" responses are coming from? I think OP was asking if they would be allowed to play them as one account, having them almost always side-by-side, because that is exactly how they appear in canon. It's not a matter of wanting to take up two slots or get away with writing one personality section or committing playercest, but more the fact that they work better when played as a unit rather than as separate people. Yes, they could be played by two separate people, but you would NEVER be able to match the level of scripted synchronization that appears in the game. It would require too much intricate communication and constant three-way threads.

To revise OP's question, I guess, since I muse these two as a pair myself, would it be allowed if the person apping was required to write two personality sections? I know Save the Earth allows for these kinds of "combo apps" and they used to have someone play the Luteces as one unit in the past.

Save the Earth's combo system is open enough to allow even non-twin examples of "unit characters" (like Isaac and Maria from Baccano), so the Lutuces were a shoe-in because of the rules.

Which I think is what it all comes down to, the game to game rules. Some allow simultaneous playing of entirely disparate pairs (such as a talking parasite and their host), others obviously don't. All of the cases I've seen did require multiple personality sections and/or samples though, which seemed to discourage people.

Speaking as the previous StE Lutece player. It was convenient to play the two together, it was easier to get the co-ordination down. Especially since the two tend to finish each other's sentences, but it also took part of the fun out of them.

I also played a Robert on his own and, yes, it was more difficult but it was also entirely possible. They two do differ enough to get two characters out of them. I never did find a Rosalind player but I imagine playing off another person would actually be both fun and a bit of challenge to pull off effectively.

Either option works. It's really up to the OP on which they prefer.

Oh I was never doubting that they could be played separately (I muse Rosalind on her own as well), only that having two people playing them exactly as they are in canon (post-incident) in a game would be a massive challenge! I do see how it can be a little less fun to play them as a unit, though, since their bickering and philosophical musings are probably more fun played between two separate people. But whatever floats OP's boat.

Also not sure if you'd be interested, but I would greatky enjoy playing off of a Robert with my Rosalind. ;0
