I think it's perspective? I wouldn't warn for underage for under 18, but I would for 16 and under. But if you already know how old the character is, which you would if you play with them/are in the game, you're aware of if they hit that squick mark for underage sex.

um no, that's really not so. whether 16+ but under 18 is actually 'underage' depends on where you live. there are places other than america.

and underage sex should really cover 'under the age of sexual consent', not 'under the legal age of majority'.

Even in America, 18 isn't the age of consent everywhere. I'm American and the age of consent is 16 in my state and several others.

I think the anon who wants underage warning is mixing up age of consent with age of majority. 'sex with a minor' should really only count for anyone under the age of consent, which could be put anywhere from 14-16, whereas anon seems to think anyone under 18 is 'underaged'.

that isn't the issue here, though. this is about people saying that there needs to be a content warning for underage sex for people under 18, when really, 16-18 isn't legally considered underaged sex.

this has nothing to do with who's smutting with who, but all because of the AC cw and who 'isn't putting trigger warnings up for sex with underage character'.

18 is the cutoff for most games in dwrp that have an age cutoff though? why are you so opposed to putting a tag on smut threads that include an under-18 participant?

firstly because ariel isn't most games. next because as it's been pointed out here, not everyone sees under 18 sex as underage sex.

not at all. i have plenty of cr and i'm happy with it. i just think expecting someone to put a trigger warning up for under age sex in an ac check when the participants aren't under sixteen is pretty dumb.

adding that i make my character's age well known in both cr memes and by the app in their journal, which not everyone was doing. i don't sneak my character's age into play, which is pretty reprehensible and i don't have a problem with people not wanting to play with any character i have that might be under eighteen. but expecting people to slap a warning for underage sex on something when it's not technically underage sex is off.

you're trying really hard to make this all about you, and it's not. if you don't have a problem writing smut with 16 year old characters, that's fine. but clearly there are a couple people here who don't want to tag any character that young. i think the mods came up with a good solution, and i hope you will respect the preferences of others and use the voluntary tag system, regardless of where you personally feel the underage cutoff is.

this isn't about anyone smutting with anyone. the people who are tagging into things know well and good who it is they're tagging with and the ages of the characters they're playing with.

the problem came up over people not warning for underage sex in the AC content warning links and the question being 'what is underage'. this was never about who smutted with who. if you don't know the age of the young character you're tagging, that's your fault.

and as it's been pointed out by the mods, sixteen and seventeen still isn't technically 'underage', so warning for underage sex for those READING IT, not writing with it, is up to the players.

christ THANK YOU. im saying this as someone who generally doesnt smut with characters under 18 either. but its dumb to expect people to trigger warn for sex involving 17 year olds and w/e when thats legal in a lot of places. doesnt mean anyone has to smut with them.

I pick 18 as the line because that's what other games that require aging-up make you age them up to. It seems like an accepted convention of smut rp.

except ariel isn't other games, and if you want to use the 'aging up' as a qualifier, no one has to warn for anything over 13 in ariel

key words here being 'I pick'. you might decide that's your line as to what consists as the age of minor/majority, but it's not a worldwide agreement, nor is it even a country-wide agreement, since the 'age of consent' can be anywhere from 14-16, depending on where you go. 18 is the usual age up likely because it's the legal age to which someone can purchase/participate in porn without it being illegal for anyone of any age to be involved in it. it's not illegal for a 17 year old to have sex with an 18 year old, but it can be for a 17 year old to have sex with a 39 year old. the laws on age of consent and the age difference allowed varies from place to place, but the thing to keep in mind is that age of consent =/= age of majority. 18 is the legal age so DW doesn't get fined with child pornography suits. in game is a different thing all together.

tl;dr, I personally wouldn't put a trigger warning for underage sex unless my character was 16 and under.
