Seeking opinions here as well!

For a Pokemon game that starts in one Region and gradually expands to include all of the others, which do you think would be the most fun and easiest to work with as a player: Hoenn, Sinnoh, Kalos, or other?

I'd especially appreciate if you could give reasons for your decision!

There aren't really that many.

i'm not sure about the fun/easy party, with kalos tbh there wouldn't be much of a reason to expand to the others due to the variety of pokemon old and new you can find within the region itself, so the only reason to expand would be to get to the other leagues/gym leaders rather than the pokemon, which cuts down on the character types that would bother leaving kalos

sinnoh is similar if to a smaller degree

hoenn gives one the most reason for actually travelling since it's mostly its own unique pokemon

also hoenn is the nicest of the regions environmentwise imo, i'm biased. tropicalesque areas are the best.

to be honest i didn't like any of those three regions. hoenn had too much fucking water, sinnoh was boring, and kalos has lumiose city.

but for ease, hoenn probably would be my answer just because of said copious amounts of water. doesn't mean i'd like it returning, though. i wouldn't like any of these regions returning. johto is the only one i really liked all that much.

Are you the anon in game ideas? If so, either Kalos for shiny new thing or Hoenn for nostalgia.

Nobody seems to really care about Sinnoh in DWRP, so starting players off there might be a bad idea.

That's me! I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of any of these regions myself (Johto is my favorite) so I'm definitely glad I asked. I didn't realize Sinnoh was that unpopular but I'm not surprised, either.

Kalos because it's the game that pretty much everyone has played the most recently and so you wouldn't have to do a lot of explaining or world building compared to Hoenn, which, while I liked it it's not half as fresh in my mind. Or other: new region, which could be awesome because then you could worldbuild and flesh things out to your specifications.

kallos! though honestly if i were making a pokemon game i'd create my own region.

i did that when i was 12 back in avidgamers

be careful with the opinions. when people vote favorite regions they have the game in mind, and how the game played out is different from what you need for a rp. my favorite game is hg/ss but i'm aware hwo poor the region is.

imo, hoenn has the best map, followed closely by sinnoh. they're huge with lots of cities to choose from and start there. and hoenn still has to this date, the best variety in city designs and environment.

The question is, are you planing to NPC the Pokemon professors? Cause honestly that's going to be something that affects my vote. Kalos, Kanto, and Unova in that order if so. They have interesting/good/friendly professors that would make a good impression on the characters coming in. Which would be better then having people have to deal with Rowan, Birch, or Elm right off the bat, for different reasons.

However if not, I say go with Kanto or Unnova first, since it would open up to other regions quickly, due to having an airport and the S.S. Anne.

Slightly off the wall suggestion. I would also suggest opening up Orre as one of the first ones, for those that would like to battle more then capture, and the tournment structure would be fun to do instead of gym stuff.

Also I would open up Almina/Fiore/Oblivia in that order for those that would like to go a pokemon Ranger Route.
