i worked fast food at a college (and before you ask, it was one where you grabbed your food first and then paid at a cash register several feet away) and oh man my manager made it his mission in life to catch all those who dared try to cram our hamburgers into their bookbags/pockets and flee. he would literally run after them and pounce on them, and then get the cops. it was kind of nuts but also hilarious since after the fact, he'd paste the school news column about the attempted thievery onto this wall of shame on the kitchen wall. he was ex-navy so i wonder if that had something to do with it or what.
