There is a lot going on in realtime, but a lot of the players here are slower taggers. Don't be surprised if you end up playing with people who only tag back once a day, anon.

What are the events like? How easy is it to get CR?

the events vary pretty widely! december's was a "different thing every day" advent calendar of death/cannibalism/misery, january had a pretty involved plot to hunt down a shapeshifting serial killer and a straightforward attack by lizard monsters, and february's shaping up to be slanted more towards psychological horror (losing powers/senses, getting pheromoned, and the mysterious third plot is going to have body horror and probably mass death)

the mods take turns doing plot legs, iirc, so it keeps things fresh and from falling into the "oh no another monster attack" rut some horror games hit, plus there's metaplot with the npcs behind the scenes if you want to dig into that

as for cr, saying so might out me, but i play a character with no castmates and absolutely no recognition value, and i've done very well! as long as you're willing to tag out and be active, you'll be fine.

it sounds like it's pretty horror and combat intensive, how do non-fighters fare? are there any?

speaking as someone who solely plays humans in the box so far, two of which are really not trained in anything, it's not that difficult to get them involved and around and doing other things than hiding under their bed! it's important to build a network of cr and go exploring in at least twos, etc etc, but it's definitely possible.

if you want your character to stay on the sidelines but still be involved, there's a couple clinics and some other public volunteer areas they can get involved in, which pretty frequently get attacked/involved in events anyway

if you want them to be gung-ho and investigate shit/fight monsters, have them pair up with powered or well armed characters and go to town

thank you anons! i tend to play more 'normal' characters but still like to involve them whenever possible.

something else I was wondering: how intensive is the horror, would you say?

Most of it is as intensive as you want it to be. The mods have given us everything from starvation to madness to monsters and serial killers (complete with public torture posts featuring victims). This month characters are losing their senses and inhibitions, then we're getting some sort of relentless body horror at the end of the month.

And plenty of people have apped sadists and sociopaths, so even though most stuff is opt-out, you can make life very, very hard on your characters.
