Thinking of apping here. What's it like? Good points, downsides, I'd like both!

Good:

+ AC's easily made during the intro logs and events so you at least don't need to worry about it when you app in initially. You also get a free pass for the month if the app round concludes on the 15th or later.

+ Events are interesting and slowly flesh out the background of the story without giving too much away. Actual consequences do happen from IC choices too, and once the library is accessible again you can even PM the mod to learn some tidbits if your character visits the library frequently.

+ Villain-friendly! Mileage varies depending on how your villain character works, but they are able to make a deal with the masterminds at any time. Of course, expect consequences if your character blabs about it and they're not smart enough to get away.

Downsides:

- Event timings might hurt you if you're not able to come online right when it gets posted. It's always at 7.00 PM EST and they move very quickly, so be prepared to get lost in the deluge if you're in a weird timezone.

That being said I have a bad timezone too and I do still manage to get a lot done! Plurk would be your friend in this case so plot, plot and plot away.

- The game's speed has picked up considerably, so it might not be the best game if you're looking for something medium-paced. The vast majority of Haven players will backtag for ages though so it's not exactly a deal-breaker.

Oh, man, Haven actually a pretty excellent place for obscure canons, anon! I play from two obscure canons myself, and I really haven't had any trouble getting people to tag me or getting CR with the both of them. OCs are really nicely treated too, so overall, I don't think you'd have a problem at all if you app in from a canon few people know about.

...Ultimately your mileage may vary, but if your character is relatively engaging you will have absolutely no problems with CR. This gal here is from a super obscure canon but she's throttled down by trillion tags. I've found that the *jumps up in the rafters and watches everyone o.o* types really... don't get that much CR, so as long as you're pushing your character out there, your efforts will come back in spades. (As tags. No seriously a lot of them. Prepare your inbox.)

And as Sissel has mentioned as well OC's are great.

Who I was thinking of apping kind of straddles that line, but I always try my best to throw my characters out there anyway. So thank you, I think I will app next round :).

Holy shit, our Cecil is so good. I tagged them once, but I was slow and the thread didn't go anywhere, but I would love CR with them. Until I manage it, I'll keep stalking them from afar, and hoping we get to thread soon.

I LOVE our Cecil. I stalk all of his tags and he's just so amusing to read, and I'm so glad that he's gotten a part in the overall plot by being a Yao employee, I can't wait to see what happens to him next.

How's your Attack on Titan cast, Haven? I'm thinking about apping in with a character who brings along a major spoiler for people who haven't read the manga, but I'm not 100% sold on the idea yet. (I'll have a post to opt out of spoilers if I do.)

they're fine. they're no less active than most of the casts in haven and it's such a big game too so you can't expect them to be everywhere. the eren in Haven has been pretty involved plot-wise, while the Mikasa, Jean, and Historia have tagged around. I think the Historia put up top level during the event too so she's around. Hange's around too. the only char I never see around is Armin.

Eren, Mikasa and Hange are definitely around, with Eren having been involved in a big player plot as well as getting involved in the metaplot recently, and I see Historia and Jean from time to time. Armin dropped a thread with me within a few comments, and I never see him around.

I haven't seen most of them except for Eren in the past month. I had some building CR with Hange and that kind of halted. I got my tags dropped by Mikasa and I didn't know we had anyone else in cast. I vaguely recall seeing an Armin post but I can't recall a date.

Overall I find them spotty but they're definitely IC when they're around.

oh man i was thinking of apping here in a couple months, gutted to check the taken list and see your steam powered giraffe cast is gone :( dang that was a big selling point for me

Former Havenite The Spine here, popping in to say that you should go ahead and app anyway! Haven is a fantastic game, the mod is the most enthusiastic I've ever seen, and the players are all around great. If it weren't for classes making me slow I'd still be there :3

Honestly, and I'm hoping RL stuff settles down sooner rather than later so I can do more than just think of appin back. Haven was the most fun I've had in a gameee for a long while.
