Your privilege at any time is only as strong as the wifi signal

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

why is it better to lift heavy stuff with your legs, not your back?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
afaik it's related to strain on your discs or risk of hernias or something

Take it from someone who has messed up knees and can't lift with legs, it puts a lot of strain on your back and that can lead to back problems.

do you seriously have to ask? it's common sense. your back does not have the muscle to lift things that your legs do. your legs are meant to support the weight of your body, so they're built to withstand that. your back and spine are incredibly important to your body - if you lose your spine, you're pretty much a useless bag of bones, so isn't it a given that you make more use of your legs? back injuries pretty much ruin your life if they're bad enough, even to the point of disability.
