it was a fun game. no masterpiece, but still.

there was nothing "fun" about it. it wasn't even a game. it's an "interactive movie" and those are always such bullshit garbage. you don't actually have choices.

and if you think various scenes of attempted rape and forced drama makes a fun game, you have issues tbh

i'm not denying that, if you read down below (somewhere in that mess) i stated i didn't like the ending/ much of the adult jodie storyline for those very reasons. i thought it was a fun game because at first, at least, it seemed unique in that i was playing as the entity that defended jodie - that part was fun.

but then there were the cage certified shower / rape scenes i didn't agree with. there were literally too fucking many. but i like games with choices, though as you say i don't think many of the choices i made had any end result. it was too linear to really replay, cage's games are like that because once you play twice it unwravels into shit and that's disappointing but from a first play perspective i did find it fun in parts.

and when i say "there were too many" i mean even one is too much. game would've been better without jodie being rapebait in like three different scenarios

ia it was fun in theory. there were good concepts there. but, like every other david cage game, it fell flat. it was too cliche, the writing was sloppy, many things didn't end up being relevant to the story (like navajo), it was hard to even see what the plot was in the first place... aside from spirit + medium shenanigans. there was too much happening that just had no weight. the treatment of jodie was downright skeevy, so i can see why you'd rather play kid jodie. tbh she'd be cute to see in hh or something.

you might be better watching "the unborn" or something since it's almost the exact same plot. dunno if it was actually any good, though.

thanks anon! and i feel you, i think it was good as a story up until a point and then it just blew off into skeezy town. it channeled a little carrie and then it just got weirder, there were too many moments that made jodie too fragile in comparison with what seemed like purposeful scenes that built her up. she was never given proper treatment as a character and we're not even going to touch the ending, i pretend it doesn't exist.

i think i'll give that a shot then! (watching what i presume is a movie?) i just really got into the story of jodie as a child because then i started having all these ideas!! but then the game was like "no haha, this is what really happened suck it" and it just deflated, like you said.

the only good thing about this was the voice acting. dafoe and page were damn good in their roles, even if dafoe's... yeah. goblinified.

ia entirely. it had so much potential. SO MUCH. but no, it was in the hands of the wrong person (or people). what also got me in addition to jodie's character fluctuation was the extent of her powers. that fluctuated when the plot allowed for it which was just absolute bullshit. don't set up rules (aiden can only go so far or jodie dies) just to break them or disregard them completely.

don't even get me started on ryan that sack of shit GOD DAMMIT there is just SO much i hate about bts.

i think it's a movie! probs the basis of the game. there's so much you could do with that, yeah. heck, even make your own oc and do it better!

the graphics were pretty damn good, too. i loved dafoe's acting, even though i completely hated and had no remorse for his character at the end. i cared about no one during the last half of the game.

ryan was such a festering bag of shit, the whole forced love thing was so annoying and gross after everything he did to her. though they chose weird shit to interject like aidan's jealousy??? (which makes it incesty and weird and i really went fuck no at that I AM A PROTECTOR THAT"S ALL JESUUSUS) but i did like fucking with him when he was at her place. and im glad he lost an eye.

but yeah dafoe's character went off the rails. it made NO sense. but god he's one of my favorite actors AWRrrgh.

the second half of the game just shouldn't have existed. just let me mess shit up and not be tempted / given reason to kill myself constantly that would be nice. i chose the ending with jay bc hot native guy but it was like so random
