i actually have played and liked all of them, but you probably don't want to play anything before like...4 or 5, if you want any sort of story/characters. obviously given this thread people have a lot of really strong opinions about it.

it's like with any other canon: if you go in expecting entertainment, you won't be disappointed. if you expect the most perfect thing ever, you will be. for what it's worth i did enjoy the stories in general, however ridiculous they might have gotten, as well as the characters.

someone mentioned chrono cross on here, and i found that less easy to like; there are just so many characters in it that it can be hard to actually connect to any of the m.

Anon that brought up Chrono Cross here, and it's even worse than that; the characterization of over half the party after they join consists of the same stock lines run through an accent algorithm (not a joke - there is an actual accent algorithm).
