Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

not really no. just another boring excuse for people to be cliquey.

events in a game are excuses for people to be in cliques

okay

care to elaborate, since the District Tours are a forced CR event within your District?

Well from what i've seen, not everyone interacts with their districts as often as they ought to. In fact some people hardly ever tag others from their district.

that's what this event is supposed to counteract, though. I'm not sure how it's an excuse to be more cliquey, then.

then how is forcing people to get some cr within their district and, therefore, cr most of the game doesn't have still cliquey?

I'll own up to not having much cr with my district mates anymore since some have dropped, but that's half of the reason I'm looking forward to the event.

I'm just not sure where you get an opportunity to make new cr to mean that it'll be filled with cliques.

Pretty much this.

On CR memes and what not I go for characters who seem interesting in the moment or whose players are interested in/need similar things in the given week. That means that I sometimes lose out on opportunities with my character's district mates because it just doesn't make sense at the time. I know they should have CR, it's just the logistical problems of getting it, and I feel like this event might help fix that a little bit.

Plus, even without the new CR, I am super excited to learn more about the overall world. We know pieces about each district but having a fully developed write up like it seems like the mods are doing will be really, really cool for reference.

That last part. Just learning more about the individual districts is going to be so so cool. I cannot wait. I'm so excited. c:

wow, the mods put a lot of work into that!

What amazes me is that everyone falls for these attempts at wank-stirring every time without getting their detective hats on and realizing what you're doing.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
we know. it's just... their arguments seem so weird and, half of the time, don't even exist. how could you not resist poking? it's fun watching them flail around with "WELL UM YOURE STUPID" or something

EVERY. TIME. it's something different and more off center and it just gets funnier and funnier

but i poke for the entertainment value. that might just be me.

It's worth talking to them to if someone seems to be having a real problem being left out in general but in this case it's very obvious trolling. It's common knowledge that most people have very little CR in their own districts and that this plot will be forcing new CR for most of the game.

If people keep poking back they'll just keep turning every game discussion into talks about cliques and start up a debate about whether there's a problem with them or not so that all people will think of when they think of the game is that there's possible cliquishness, regardless of whether there is or isn't.

+.5?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with both sides.

their trolling is SO out there, I get poking at them because...wtf.

but at some point they're gonna chance on something legit, or just dargging things down so consistently that even if it's untrue it'll become and issue. we know it's bs, but outside of the game, they might not, so I would be wary of how you poke them.

flatview anon

and not in game, but yeah this basically. how you guys respond usually makes your game look bad.

This is what I thought it must look like. We know this time it's definitely not someone in the game or at least not in the game anymore because they commented on the worst possible thing to make accusations of cliquishness for. Almost no districts have much CR between the characters in them. You can actually factually prove it's baseless this time just by looking through the character tags because you can't claim cliquishness if the people rarely play with each other.

My suggestion to players would be every time you feel the urge to get defensive don't comment and go prove the anon wrong by tagging a new person. While I've never seen it come up also make sure you stay open to someone who claims they have clique problems if they say it logged in or make a reasonable comment on your hmds.

If no one argues back and anyone actually looking at the game sees people tagging around it's the best take-that you could manage and good for the game anyway. Then they'll just look pathetic trying to kick off wank so many times in the game threads in a row.
