negl but since someone mentioned it up there, i do have to admit that i'm suspicious as fuck these days when i see f/f pairings getting popular. i'm a lesbian and i should love it, but a lot of it does appear really disingenuous and like a way to get the women out of the picture. that or as a side pair thing.

Okay I think you've made someone Really Mad (not that I can blame them, this is kind of a stupid opinion, but they should kind of dial it back)

but at the same time, why? You should really reexamine why you feel this way - it just seems kind of gross and ugly. You're defining female characters by male ones even when they're being discussed in a context that's completely devoid of them. Why can't people just ship F/F?

okay, i'm probably being the idiot who's taking this in good faith, but i can kind of see where you're coming from? maybe? you almost never see f/f ships that break up popular het ships unless the male in the het equation is part of a popular m/m ship, that's true.

but i think that's looking too much into what probably amounts to "i think x and x are cute together let me press these barbie dolls together"

i don't care what the original motivation is as long as the ships getting popular get plenty of gorgeous fanart and great fic. let great f/f arise independently or from people wanting their m/m, as long as the results are great and well-rounded fanworks around female characters i couldn't care less about the origins of the ship.

ngl i've gone into some fandoms thinking i'd be there for the m/m ship and found the work surrounding the f/f ship that arose to make m/m possible 100x better and never looked back. encourage f/f wherever you find it, it is a fragile enough flower without needing its roots unearthed every time for scientific examination.

You know what, I get what you're saying, but I'll still take that over vilifying, bashing, or otherwise 'punishing' female characters for 'being in the way' of male characters X and Y's true love.
