and i've watched typical unknown shitty anime but i can't for the life of me remember what any are called because i watched one episode and rolled out the door...

Frozen. I don't think it deserved all the hype. I like Let It Go, but everything else about this movie was just so underwhelming. The other songs aren't that good, I found most of the cast to be either boring, annoying, or incredibly forgetful, and the snow animation was nice but I liked ROTG's snow and frost better. I think Disney's done way better, but then they've also done way worse, too.

It's not as prevalent as you seem to think, anon... even in KH they aren't exactly a focus, since KH is a clusterfuck of genres by definition.

Oreimo is one of my two primary examples of anime that had a great premise but utterly failed to deliver (the other is Sword Art Online). I tried to get through the second season for all the other characters, but once I learned the ending I just... couldn't anymore.

I asked around for the same thing but didn't get any interest :c kyles are really hard to come by

Why are you so defensive, it's not like I said anime is all about bug eyed preschoolers or whatever. I didn't claim clones are a Japan only thing, so how is a tvtropes article meant to counter anything?

Interestingly, most of the western examples there are the "clones as redshirts" thing, not as main/secondary characters like in anime. I guess another very specific cloning plot that I've seen only in Japanese works is visually identical copies of popular character, like the half-dozen variations of Saber in Fate Stay Night spinoffs or Kite in dot Hack.

Riley has used a lot of aliases.

They're a minor plot point in Symphonia and the sequel, and I guess Xillia 2 if you include alternate timeline versions of characters.

Attack on Titan, Frozen and Agents of Shield.

I knew one on LJ who was fairly okay. They seemed to play mostly to do gen sibling stuff with Hinata and to explore the Hyuuga family issues, though.

It did come out a year after CoM/the same year as KHII tho. 358/2 after those, so that might be why I saw them "everywhere." I wonder if Xenosaga counts.

it seems creepy that someone would go through your recent tag activity and post specific examples of how long some tags have taken you, specifically noting whether or not they're to castmates when that has nothing to do with the issue they're talking about. they could have just said 'you're really slow with this character and it worries me about starting cr with you' and it would have got the point across fine
