i recently started watching this show with my boyfriend and we just finished the season

i dont hate it so far but just out of curiosity, am i alone in being really frustrated with the writing in this show? and is that an anime-only thing? i mean its enjoyable to watch and a lot of the concepts are interesting, i just find myself really frustrated with how its presented, and i really didnt feel the emotional impact everyone else seems to have experienced. i dont understand why character and plot development always seem to happen in flashback - or, in the case of character development, just before that character dies. a lot of character deaths might have meant more if id seen their families and certain positive qualities presented more before they died, and the same goes for plot development. eren having an internal monologue about how this squad of people is so successful because they trust each other SO much and are SO CLOSE really just seems like an unnecessary last-minute grab for emotional impact, and it makes their deaths feel really cheapened. same with plot development - hearing about the really clever plan after ive already seen it fail just lets me know that its a good time to get up and get a drink, because the placing of that scene makes it completely needless after ive already seen the outcome of said plan.

and i dont mean to say it was all bad - some parts were well-paced and solidly written, this is just my experience with it. i feel like we spent half of the time being mutually frustrated by how often the narrative likes to undercut itself

It drive anyone else crazy when you see that the last fifteen characters posted in a meme are obviously all from the same person? Same text styles, same journal styles, samey-samey looking icons? Because it annoys the shit out of me.

well...it's a prostitution au. those aren't really made for insightful meta and thought-provoking storylines. have the mods been advertising it as some sort of serious game or something? otherwise i dunno why anyone's expect anything other than smut.

Open to anyone. My character is a bit of a peculiar one so to I not one to turn down someone willing to play these things out with him.

After taking a look myself I'm not surprised. Most of the people posting are highly OOC in their games as well.

I have no idea how they've been advertising it, but I don't think it's a huge demand for characters to retain the same personality and/or have similar backstories even in an AU?

But whatever, to each their own. If people are having fun in a semi-private little AU game it really doesn't effect me.

yes. in my experience, people who do that are far less likely to tag others or even reply to tags of their own. it's pretty aggravating.

i've never done an AU myself. shouldn't there be at least a core of the personality? otherwise it just sounds like they're making OCs and slapping a PB.

As someone who doesn't want to play in a smut game (I'm okay with smut, I just want other stuff more), it's pretty disconcerting that the only Dynasty Warriors cast is in Amat. Looks like I'll be a lone canon warrior.

well, that's not an utterly generic statement that could apply to any rp or anything...

nah, anon. brawl was about 6.77 gigs on the wii disc, and the 3ds cartridges are confirmed to hold up to about 8 gigs of data

considering they're not putting in a traditional "story" mode, that frees up more memory

and with street fighter 4 and tekken 3d for the the 3ds both having 30-40 characters in it, i don't see them really limiting characters just because of the 3ds
