Ditching the digits

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

Hey! This is the designated catch-all entry. This is not an invitation to spam to your heart's content. The same rules apply.

Lmao no. Like bagged the person while they were intubated. It was fucking crazy because there were around 10 people in the room all doing random shit to her and making jokes and I was just standing there squeezing the bag every 5 seconds and these weird ass sounds kept coming from her body. It was crazy. I have never in my life had such an adrenaline rush.

all doing random shit to her and making jokes

When you work in an environment like that it's hard to stay somber and respectful. After a while you learn to laugh and joke around about death because the alternatives would mean you'd have to quit pretty fast.

gallows humor. It's the only way to cope.

and usually the jokes are not like...I won't say disrespectful, because that's subjective, but there are lines that can't be crossed. it tends to be personal stuff, but I remember this guy we were around being shunned for making fun of a body's penis length.

Oh they weren't jokes about the person at all. They were like "Haha just figured out I can't get a radial pulse because the bp cuff is on this arm derp" and things like that. Or the respiratory therapist's something or another was in another room and someone joked about that. Still, like the anon below said, it's not unusual for emergency medical professionals to have a really dark sense of humour. It's not like their bad day consists of a rude customer and their boss being an ass.
