I'd play there, but... damn it, I still want dragons.

I actually think a weyr-based AU would be fine, since Pern isn't a huge and wanky fandom in DWRP. Yeah, a dedicated Pern forum game is going to be full of assholes with bad OCs who want sparkle rainbow dragons and special powers and 9000 fire lizard friends, but that kind of shit gets frowned on hard here. Pern canon itself is full of special snowflake Mary Sues, but good moderation would weed those types out before they even got into the game. You could also cut out the sketchy sexuality stuff, and make dragon impressions open to all genders.
