I killed my pet bird when I was 7 for absolutely no reason. I would torture our other bird by holding it under water or letting it dangle by the back of its neck just to hear it cry. More recently, I got really angry at my cat, threw things at him, hit him and yanked him around by the scruff of the neck until he cried.

I felt awful about all these things afterward and hate myself for them even now. I am normally kind to animals, love my cat dearly, feel bad if I accidentally hurt them and hate hearing about animals that have been hurt or abused by other people. I have no idea why I hurt my pets like I have done. Sometimes I wonder if I have sociopathic tendencies and it is only a matter of time until I start hurting people. I feel like a monster and think that I probably shouldn't own pets, but I love them too much to ever give them up.

give up your pets to better owners. if you're not going to stop abusing animals you don't deserve to own them. get help and get it now. and this is me trying to be rational instead of fucking furious. because this secret did make me fucking furious.
