it's a fluffy romance game made for fujoshi (and guys) who want to play out a BL romance. it's not meant to be a glowing example of political correctness in the first place. I highly doubt the mod and players believe transmen aren't legitimate men.

I don't think allowing trans characters in the game is a big deal myself. however, I'm worried about someone apping a transman and fictional drama occurring due to his identity. others may want to avoid that in RPland since they already experience that in real life. it also may end up being played without tact and end up trivializing the struggles of transmen in real life. perhaps it's better to prevent that from happening by nipping the bud.

This. I think this is why people are so pissed off, because this seems so apparent from the way everything has been handled, and that's an issue that goes way beyond the rules of one DWRP game.
