Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

1: you dont get it at all

2: you don't get it at all

3: you didn't answer my question you just gave me an excuse (well transmen are allowed so long as they aren't transmen)

da

but if the character identifies as male, why would it change their character that much to be genderswapped in the game?

Does someone REALLY have to explain this to you?

Characters have these things called histories. You may have heard of them. Trans people have them too.

And part of any trans person's history is the experience of being raised as the gender with which they don't identify. Part of any trans person's history is the experience of NOT BEING OKAY WITH WHAT'S BEEN ASSIGNED TO THEM.

So your answer of "just pretend they were their gender of identity all along" completely nullifies all aspects of the characters history and personality which have to do with their experience of NOT BELONGING IN THE SPACE THEY'VE BEEN ASSIGNED.

This should seriously not be hard to understand if you just bothered to think about it for two fucking minutes.

And if they're in a male body solely for the purpose of the game, isn't that what they want? What's so bad about that?

Nice oversimplification and stereotyping of a huge number of people with a huge range of wants and needs there, but surprise, YOU'RE WRONG!

tbh, your view of human motivations and desires is so shallow you should be ashamed to roleplay anyone.

Are you kidding, their simplistic view of human motivations fits right in with many rpers.

Hmm. You're very right, sadly.

Doesn't mean it should be any less of an insult to point it out, but I suppose sometimes it's just par for the course.

as someone who does genderswapped (And I use that as the fandom term, not the term in regards to sexual identity), I think you're right that they're going to be very different. And I see why you feel this is transphobic.

But I think you should look at it the same way you would look at a genderswap. They are becoming an AU. If you genderswap Wonder Woman, it is going to significantly change parts of her personality/history/etc. If you do it hamfisted, it's going to be sexist and insulting. If you do it well it could be interesting. How would their life have been without that pressure on them? what part of their personality comes from that internal struggle, and which parts don't?
