Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

see the thing is that it doesn't matter what you prefer because you aren't the one playing the character. the choice to humanize does not in and of itself interfere with characterization, and it certainly hasn't done so in the case of the ME cast (of whom you are undoubtedly thinking). so yeah, they got dogpiled, because they said something petty and stupid.

and now you are joining them.

wait why would you humanize any of the mass effect aliens when they work basically the same as humans anyway, possibly discounting mordin or krogans

that does actually sound kind of dumb and unnecessary

what why would mordins or krogan make a difference? Krogan bulk I might give you, but salarians function similar to humans with the exception of the lifespan thing. turians and quarians can't even eat normal food.

Agreed, the ME aliens have so many issues engaging with average human things so this seems like an easy fix. I also thought it was a neat way to nerf some of their powers/abilities.

mostly the lifespan thing, but i guess that and the turian/quarian food issue could be handwaved with crazy ship comic book science or something

it just seems like 'well now they're human!' is lazy when keeping them as aliens wouldn't be that hard and would offer way more cr opportunities

They're being more active and doing better in the game right now than any of our previous mass effect attempts. They're using the 'well now they're human!' to take advantage of the need to adapt to being human in order to gain cr. It's the opposite of lazy when you're intentionally making your text tags full of errors because your character can't use his fingers very well.

I'm not going to argue that one route of play is better over the other, but you seem to be intentionally ignoring all the opportunities (not just in cr but in internal character development) they have opened up for themselves by doing it this way. Ataraxion allows both alien-aliens and humanized aliens/robots/whatever. If the mods didn't feel the need to stop them and make them be aliens, then this is really all just pointless bickering over a cast that at the moment are active, in character, and really fun to play with.
