Uhh

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Jude's characterization in certain parts is based on canon point with how he develops, but I'll try to details some basics covering all bases. If there's a specific canon point you have in mind, feel free to mention it and I'll elaborate.

Try to balance out what he is capable of and what he isn't. Jude is extremely smart and reasonably mature for his age, but he's also 15 and the plot points play with this a lot. He's still learning to stand on his own, and still learning to stick by his choices and make them without regrets, though by endgame this is less of an issue. It's why there were concerns by his father over his ability as a doctor, and depending on canon point, this will still be a character fault he will carry. There are a series of Leronde sidequests that elaborate on this. There are a lot of faults he carries, and Milla's side is a good way to explore some of them as well (Leia provides insight into these, mainly giving you more information about how he can be caring to a fault, his childhood is an interesting topic.) so hopefully you've played both sides.

It's even more important to remember Jude as a character lacks personal direction for a good portion of the game, instead choosing to follow Milla's guidance and mission when he loses the previous path he was following (his schooling) and found himself desiring to help her. He's mildly dependent to a certain point for most of the game, and he will be feeling the lack of her direction in a game if he's from mid game and pre chapter three and playing as a LCW or without a Milla. He will probably choose to latch onto some sort of purpose in a game, big or small, because it's something Jude as a character desires to have. He wants to help others and wants to make himself useful. This could actually provide some interesting opportunities if you play it right, because just because he desires purpose doesn't mean he'll necessarily make the safest choice in one for himself.

A key point I have seen concern mentioned about elsewhere: Try not to undermine or forget Milla's importance to Jude in your characterization. Milla had a heavy impact on the entire party, but Jude especially, as she provided him with the opportunity to find his own path, and the guidance and example he needed to grow by. He ultimately fell in love with her, and it's stated in canon. Doesn't matter if you ship it or not but platonically, romantically or otherwise, Milla Maxwell is always going to be incredibly important to Jude Mathis. While it's possible for him to fall in love with someone else (He is 15) or fall out of love, please keep in mind that he is not going to distance himself from her and this isn't a relationship that will change much even if he does fall out of love with her.
