Uhh

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

What are your favorite/least favorite headcanons?
Like I kinda like on a thematic/poetic level the one of Jack being born/raised on Pandora and his grand heroic delusions + hyperviolence being his own manifestation of Pandoran insanity, but I'm not sure how much I like it literally?

i've never thought about that before anon!

i think ia with you though: i like that idea on a thematic/poetic level but not so much literally......i think it lessens the impact of his craziness when it is chalked up to "oh the planet caused it" instead of him just naturally being that way no matter where he was born and raised.

i guess i find bad guys who are just born messed-up to be more chilling than bad guys who were warped by an outside influence.

See, and that's why ordinarily I would outright hate that theory because it cheapens a character's awfulness, but it's almost kind of satisfying for a guy that's so self-important to be cheapened.

If I may put in my own pet interpretation, I disagree with Jack being born bad, though. I like to see it as him having issues pretty much right out of the gate, but for a while kinda...trying to be a decent person, at least. Kinda like Walter White always having a selfish and egotistical streak that he only went whole hog on later. I have a feeling this might be just due to a different taste in villains, haha. Or maybe I have the "Want to see what your Daddy did for you? That’s right: Daddy did that. Daddy did that for you” line stuck in my head.

On favorite headcanons, I also like the one where Jack is the space equivalent of white trash and "moved up" to a crappy white collar job.
