any canon point in mind?

not really anon! i was just looking for general tips and advice in general.

-don't overdo the burgers thing! she has weird tangents on just as many other things and references other foods.

-make use of your surroundings/settings. Maya has things to say about everything. she's very interested in other people as well.

-when you're playing aa, pay attention to how she reacts to who because it really varies and she's very reactionary and impulsive. Very little brain to mouth filter, though she can sometimes hold herself back in serious situations.

-remember that even though she is weird and out there and silly and her logic is 1 + 1 = potatoes half the time, she is not stupid. she's genuinely intelligent and perceptive under her weirdness. Despite her general behavior, she is perfectly capable of being responsible, mature, or resourceful when she feels she needs to be.

Other things to bear in mind:

-her cheer/happiness isn't completely genuine. How much is fake/forced is up for debate, but she tends to put on a brave face for others and/or hide behind her smile and silly attitude when things are bothering her.

-in this vein, while she acts cocky and confident, in actuality she is insecure and doesn't think much of herself. She gets better about this throughout the games, but from feeling like she's useless to Phoenix if she can't channel Mia to doubts about being Master and her channeling skills and everything in between, that is pretty bad self-esteem. She judges herself really harshly if she feels she's failed.

-not just silly and upbeat and weird! When in court, she's calmer and often sassing and snarking with Phoenix in the defense bench. A lot of that snark is in asides where no one else but Phoenix can hear her, but she is pretty sassy in general and gets increasingly sarcastic. She also teases people she's comfortable with. A lot

-very invested in other people and also sympathetic/empathetic! She is the first person to sympathize with someone or get feels over their emotional stories, even if she dislikes them or they've treated her badly. Every time she inadvertently hurts someone's feelings (and she will, because she can be pretty blunt and tactless), she's immediately contrite. She encourages other people a lot and gets enthusiastic over their progress.

-mischievous and can be manipulative at times! It's all harmless, and her manipulative side tends to be more like a kid trying to manipulate their parents or to achieve something good. Or a light prank.

-bear in mind that outside of phoenix and pearl, mia is still very important to her. They were close
