Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Yeah, but those call outs can get vicious. I'm a poc, yeah, but I'm also sheltered as fuck so I'm not sure how much my opinion matters? But I do have anxiety issues and I can't imagine having to deal with a whole bunch of people breathing down your neck and criticizing you constantly. This is the crowd that thinks white people cosplaying pocs is white washing and white people listening to rap is cultural appropriation and fetishizing.

And then there's the fact that 1) the world is not America, so things that are huge sins for the African American community may not be that well known outside of America. I've literally never heard of the watermelon thing until I came to America. As a poc, I can claim ignorance, but as a white person? I'd be tarred with the Racist label and the Internet never forgets.

You might not *JUDGE* a white person who plays poc characters, but enough people will that if you're sensitive to that kind of bashing, it really affect you to be seen as a horribad bigot for the rest of your rp life.

Basically, I'm sure you've heard the words 'fetishizing', 'appropriation', and 'SJ brownie points', and everyone wants to see people in the worst possible light. Not the mention the people who will cuss out someone who makes an honest mistake but not explain what they did wrong because THEY DON'T HAVE TO EDUCATE U. It's frustrating that PoCs get shafted on representation because of that, but I don't see the point in pretending that the only reason a white person would be hesitant to play a PoC is because they are secretly horrible racists.
