I've tried apping here twice, got accepted both times, and ended up dropping out after about a month. I enjoy the idea of the premise, and I want to throw a character into it.

It could bet a case of "Game not working for me," which'd be fine. Not every game's for every person. It could be the character I apped both times wasn't a proper fit and I just need to try someone different.

I'm wondering if it's worth an eventual third shot (third time's a charm?).

It depends on what you like? If you enjoy writing smut without worrying that other players are judging you, Ariel's a good fit. If you don't mind logs that can drag out for weeks or months? Ariel's a good fit. If you can reach out to other players and be proactive in getting CR and AC, then Ariel's going to be a good fit.

If you don't want to focus on ensuring you get smut AC every month, if you want a faster pace, if you have issues with the constant dubcon background, or if you want CR to come without some reaching out and communication, then it's not such a good fit.

This is not a judgment of you. You should go where you have fun. If you have a character in mind that you would enjoy the setting with, I think you should come and give it another try. It's a lot of fun and the players are welcoming and open to plotting.

Yeah, part of my problem the last couple of times might have been that I wasn't expecting such a laid back pace to things. It's definitely not a bad thing (especially considering how slow I can be at times with replies), but it threw me off guard a bit.

I have some time before I can even really consider apping to a new game, so I'll definitely think it out. Thanks!

to add to other anon:

if you aren't prepared to use the plot devices provided you to bend characterization, probably not the best fit for you, either.

Oh, no! The plot devices were never problematic in implementing for me, but this is where I wonder if it was more of a poor character choice on my part. The character I had was naturally a very sexual person, but he also had a lot of prior issues in canon with issues of consent.

So I feel like maybe the character was resisting the writing more than my other characters might.

in that case i wouldn't sweat it. i hit that wall myself fairly early on and a hefty dose of re-ed helped, combined with their base personality, but it could have easily not even come close to being useful and been a disaster.
