Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

obviously you've never had a cat or a pet in general. somehow you get $1 a day out of nowhere?????? we have more than one cat and an eight dollar bag of food lasts three weeks. not only that, our 'emergency vet bills' happen maybe once a year at most, and are for things ear wax removal. we don't have to a deworm them because, holy shit this is mind-blowing, we take care of our pets.

you know that stuff like frontline is often used as a precaution, right? this has nothing to do with ~good care~, and more something with "my cat spends a lot of time outside where i can't make sure everything is clean, so i do what i can to prevent worms, fleas, and ticks".

i agree on the food; it depends on what you feed them. for me, that person's estimation is pretty accurate, though a cat can live just as happy a life with other, cheaper food.

as for emergency vet bills, they are just that: emergency vet bills. they can happen once a year, they can happen every couple of years, and if you're unlucky, they can happen every couple of months. maybe your cat got into a fight and needs to get patched up, maybe it got hit by a car, maybe it needs surgery, or maybe the worst that happens is some ear-wax-removal. it's still a considerable amount of money that you should have at your disposal and that you should take into consideration before you get an animal.

i say 'good care' because i don't allow my animals to go outside. you can let them have the same stimulation and happiness keeping them indoors as you can allowing them to go outside. whenever you let your cat outside you're risking them getting hit by a car or getting sick.

i just think it's ridiculous because rabbits can have the same expenses. they missed the whole point anyhow.

Holy shit, anons, I didn't 'miss the point', and I wasn't trying to fight about any of this shit people brought up. OMG what do you mean you feed your cat $1 of Felix a day why don't you feed them kibble!!1 None of this shit was on point either, it was anons wanting to come and disagree for the sake of disagreeing.

A cat can live for 20 years, and is an expensive investment even without it dodging cars. A rabbit lives half that, and all it does is eat and shit. It never interacts with wild animals, cars or other rabbits.

inb4 anons come to disagree with my numbers again.
