I have a few characters I want to play at a game right now, but will likely only choose one, but I'm still not sure so??

I'm considering playing:
Billy Batson/Captain Marvel (DCU)
Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Mikuru Asahina (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Labrys (Persona 4 Arena)

I'm not really picky on what kind of game it is, so long as it's not sex based. For Haruhi, I'd love a game with a cast, but that can be difficult to find. For Labrys, I'd like somewhere with any SMT/Persona players, but again can do without.

Yeah, but any kind of activity is fine, any setting, powers/no powers, anything.

No, not really.

rekindleme has a slowly growing p3 cast (minako, minato, shinjiro, akihiko) as well as a yu narukami. it's a medium-to-slow-paced fluff-type game where characters need to keep up with a physical contact quota to power the city and keep themselves from getting sick. the ac is pretty lax (two proofs from 5 comments on a log and/or 10 on a network post) and there are different sorts of events. our last one was a summer festival, while one the month before had characters going to recharge one of the city's districts, for instance.

the app round for this month just ended recently, but reserves open up on the 1st, and apps open on the 8th if you're interested.

Canon reviewing for Labrys brought my Aigis muse out too, so if there's any place that needs an Aigis or if rekindleme would rather have Aigis over Labrys, there's also that. Also possibly Elizabeth but she'd need major reviewing since it's been over a year since she's been out.

I would do a great many things for Billy over at

capeandcowl (or

cape_kore, although I don't think the setting would work quite as well for him and characters have to be 16 or older and I don't know from what point in canon you prefer to take him!).

If you want details on either of them, I could wordvomit at will.

I'd love to join at capeandcowl, but I'm a bit worried since I haven't finished Power of Shazam or read many of his cameo appearances. So if I played him from that he'd be either where I'm at(think I'm in the 30-somethings) or a bit earlier on. I could also take him from Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam, or pretty much any animated version. I swear I know a lot about him, I just get worried if I haven't read EVERY SINGLE THING IN EXISTENCE and even then I worry :(

Oh, yeah, I totally get it! He's a character with a lot of canon spanning a really long time period (although honestly I think you'd be fine with starting in the 90s and skimming about; I really like Power of Shazam, personally!). But, yeah, I totally get that. I don't like to play a character unless I have read at least 75% of their known and listed canon (if comics ofc).

CnC does allow people to canon update, which I think most games allow now? I honestly regret not taking Zatanna from like, 2001 or something and then updating her several times. I like all incarnations of him and I'd honestly be thrilled if you apped in any version of him! :)

A lot of players also have canon fail posts. I know more than one Batman we've had in the past has and so have a lot of characters like Wonder Woman or Superman. I think it's invaluable if you don't have weird creepy memory like I do or you're worried about having missed an issue or event unlisted or maybe you want to know about a relationship in the future.

I checked and I was on issue 35 when I took a break from reading him, so I think I could actually finish up that series rather quickly so I'll do that, yeah! After that I've read almost all his standalone titles(even got some from the 70s and 80s waiting). Knowing I can canon update easily is a huge relief and the canon fail thing is good to know too.

I just... don't know much about him in the general DCU or what to read for that. Him in Fawcett? Okie dokie lokie, I can tell you anything about every incarnation animated or not, all the variations, etc. Him... anywhere else? Nervous laughter.

See, I honestly started reading comics because of him so basically all I've ever read is his titles. I'm very new to it so I get really worried about messing up or not knowing...

Of his titles from 70s to now, the only things I'm missing are Shazam: Power of Hope and the New 52 but... yeah. Is there anything he makes an appearance in that's a total must read or would give more insight into his interaction with other characters? Or anything you especially recommend?

Sorry, I'm asking so much of you, but I really want to play him the best that I can. Especially knowing you love him! And since I love him too, of course.

It's always nice to know you won't be judged for not knowing everything, too. I know CnC has a bit of a reputation when it comes to comic knowledge, but we're all very friendly and willing to lend a hand.

Hrm, yeah, it's a bit of a pickle. I have a difficult time thinking offhand from earlier time periods; back then he didn't have a lot of interaction with the rest of the DCU (even in 1999 when there was a magic event, he had no presence in it!) and I thin following that title, you'd want to read JSA but he is around...I don't know? 15, 16ish in it? It's a good, pleasant read regardless. I think JLA is a good title to skim regardless.

New 52 is obviously not in continuity for this and I want to say the last 2 years or so of the old universe isn't worth it (it's kind of depressing, actually!). But yeah, I think JSA is sort of a must-read for interactions, even if they're in the future. I can't think off the top of my head older ones when he was younger, but I don't mind skimming a list of his appearances and my giant piles of comics to see if anything comes to mind! In regard to my character specifically, there is an issue of 52 (Fifty-Two) and the Day of Vengeance Special (the latter of which breaks my heart). I can dig them up and I think I actually have .cbr's of them, if you could wait a day or so for me to upload them? c:

Nah, don't worry about it. I'd rather potentially play with someone that really cares about a character and loves them than not! I'm pretty overenthusiastic about Zatanna, myself, so I get it. Totally promise.

*Cough* I'd love to see Labrys at Haven since we have a small P3/P4 cast and if physical/psychological horror is your thing you'd have a blast. Activity's pretty easy to make since there's bi-weekly intro logs that get lots of support, the environment is actually creepy even during non-event times and powers are not limited, though they may be taken away at times.

One thing I'm worried about is that none of the characters are Post-P4U which would be really weird for Labrys and potentially interesting to play out, but it'd be really hard on her if her friends didn't remember anything they had gone through. Still putting it on my list to consider!

True, especially since three of the cast are people she's at least heard (Fuuka is iffy since I don't think Labrys heard her intervention). I did read upthread that you were also considering Aigis and trust me, the P3 cast would love it!

Labrys does interact with Fuuka and knows of her. I think this is shown during Aigis' route, but I can't be sure. Could have been Mitsuru's.

Haha, but yeah maybe I'll do that! If I did play her, it'd likely be post P4U as well, but Aigis would more easily handle it given her experiences in the Answer.

Ah! I've only watched Aigis' route and Labrys was being controlled at that point, my bad.

And yeah, Aigis would definitely adapt better. Since she doesn't need to eat or drink that's even more of an advantage as food and water shortages have occurred before.
