Re: AMAT

I want to give our Anders some crit, but I'm not sure how to word it so it makes sense or comes off politely. I'm not out to tear him down or anything, I'm just not sure how to say what I want to without it coming across as rude.

His last post he had Anders asking about clothes because he apparently hasn't gotten a job yet that he can pay for things with. Reading the replies, it looks like the mun is willfully making it so Anders is having a hard time finding work because of a lack of skills that a lot of employers need. However, there a lots of posts every month about people hiring whomever comes along from the collared regardless of skills.

This isn't even touching the fact that Anders has his healing magic back now so he could easily find work at the Hospital or open up his own donation-only free clinic (assuming he doesn't like the idea of charging for his healing). It just seems very - well, not out of character, but disingenuous to the setting and the other characters/players in the game - for him to claim that people won't hire him over his lack of job-related skills when so many others with far less usable skills have easily picked up work within days of arrival. Anders has been here for months.

If you guys could give me some advice on how to word this better so I can put it on his HMD, I'd really appreciate it. I like the character and I think the player plays him well overall, otherwise.

I think that suggesting the clinic idea would be the best way to address that issue actually, anon! Perhaps I'm saying that simply because I like the clinic idea and think it's a constructive way to handle the issue, I'm not sure. Unfortunately I don't know the extent of his healing powers as I'm canon blind, but I don't see why he couldn't start something like that and get more people with powers on board. I feel as though the hospital is more limited to people with actual experience in that area, which can become rather frustrating.

iirc they did make a post about starting a clinic and received an underwhelming response to it.

Hi anon! I can understand your confusion in this area, it's something I'm aware of as well and have been trying to do something about, but I've been running into problems with. I've had Anders make several attempts ICly to get work and I've made some OOCly as well, but run into problems in relation to people dropping before I can work things out or not getting any responses ICly or OOCly. I definitely don't mind if people choose not to tag or talk with me, but it does mean that I can't just assume that he's gotten work without getting feedback that it's all right with the other player in some form, since no one likes to be told they have an employee that they didn't know about. Anders' comments about why he thinks he hasn't had any success are basically due to the fact that it's an OOC issue that he's asked to ICly explain.

That said, I am taking steps to work on this again, which will hopefully work out better this time, as I do think it would be interesting to have Anders working since it is something unfamiliar to him but that he would appreciate.

Also, as one of the above anons mentioned, I did have Anders offer healing services and consider starting a clinic where he is currently staying, however there wasn't too much interest in the idea, which is understandable considering Amat isn't a game where people get injured too often, so I imagine anything in that area that may end up happening would only be side work or during any events that may require it.

I hope this helps clear up why it seems like he hasn't had any work, anon.

Since the hospital is NPC run along with Carolyn, have you considered handwaving a job under an NPC or maybe talking to either Carolyn-mun or the mods about getting a job at the hospital? Or if not the hospital, getting a random job from a random NPC? That's ok, you know.

As I said, anon, I am working on this currently and that suggestion does include some of the ideas I'm currently considering.
