Badly's an adverb

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

permissions, hmd, info post with picture/physical description or character's name (the latter only if they're a canon character)

if it's an oc or obscure series, brief personality blurb is more appreciated than in any other case but it never hurts. i don't see why a picture would be necessary if they've got icons. hmd or just a general contact post with screened comments, but not necessary as long as pm's are enabled. shipping/kink preferences if they don't post those in the meme comment. dunno, i don't really need any of it, the only way a lack of information would turn me off is if it's an oc because they're giving me nothing but a face to go on.

I ask little: character's name, age, a brief description of personality and what they do in life. I prefer to learn about them as I play, so a long background story is not necessary for me.

A link to Wikipedia is fine, too, if that's all someone wants to provide.

In case the player only wants to rp with canonmates, that would be useful information as well.

age (because of art style making drawn characters not look their age), height (is my character looking up or down at yours?), and accent (where is my character going to guess yours is from?) would be nice

I think it depends on the character. If it's an actual canon character, just a mention of 'xx character from xx' is fine enough to go look up what needs to be looked up. If it's ANY kind of AU, put that info somewhere. If it's a fandom oc, put that info somewhere. If it's just a general oc, put a little about them somewhere.

Pictures of pianos and lyrics to some emo song are not a profile.

Something so I know if I want to tag the character back. Maybe I don't want to play against a half-demon, half-orc character. Or maybe I do. But I'd like to know that.

inb4: 'but people don't know any of that off the bat when meeting someone', people have the bonus of knowing enough about a canon character to know if they want to tag them or not (usually) and they can make up their mind then. When you give someone zero information to go off of, well intended or not, it's likely that a lot of people won't want to tag, just because of the element of the unknown character.
