I wonder what it's like to be someone RP partner. I feel like I have the bad luck of always being someone's "new shiny" for a while but it never lasts. Kinda sucks when you see everyone else boomeranging all this amazing stuff and you just wonder what it's like to be someone's first priority for once.

it's awesome and as long as you don't totally neglect your other tags, it works out great for everyone

I try to be really fair about tagging...and I try to get everyone in my inbox! I've been stuck as awkward third wheel roleplayer for so long that I really try not to do the same to other people.

then i hope you get a nice rp partner too

are you me? i've been wondering this myself for years. i have plenty of people i tag or have ships with, but they always have someone else they're looking for and/or will jump on for tags and threads immediately. it's like knowing you're always going to be second no matter what.

maybe it's dumb and petty, but wanting to be first with someone isn't bad. i think it's just hard to find in rp.

THIS. It's not that I'm lacking in threads because I do have some great things - but it always seems to fall to the wayside for other people and I'm too nice to say anything about it. I get it. That's great you have someone you're excited to write with. But it blows to have something really exciting dropped again and again for someone else.

I feel stupid for being this petty but I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm also sorry that I'm not the only one. It sucks. :(

no judging from me here, bronon. I often find myself finding someone I really like threading with and then like a month or so later they find someone else who plays my character, or pick up a new character themselves and they drop most of the RP plans we had in favor of their new shiny

i understand wishing you were someone's first priority tags, anon :( honestly it didn't happen for me until i started playing with castmates and getting to be really good ooc friends with them. maybe reach out to more people on plurk?

not the op but i could have written the post because man, i know this feel so well. and as someone who's done all that and still kind of hangs out in this boat, i think i have figured it out. maybe players like this (us?) are taken for granted and people will always assume we'll be there after their partner has gone to bed or they get bored or whatever.
