Have you ever thrown a book? (Out of rage at the book, not what it was thrown at.) Inspired by one anon's comment on Stranger in a Strange Land.

Specifically, the book Reviving Ophelia by some psychologist. My dad gave it to me, saying it "opened his eyes" and "made him think". I can't explain why but I got incredibly angry when reading it.

otoh I threw Order of the Phoenix at someone because it was two inches thick, and thinking back I wish it was something the book had done.

actually I think I also threw Stranger in a Strange Land. there was at least one other and I can't remember which. might have been one of the Sword of Truth books.

As for why I asked I always find it funny when people literally throw books. You can't do that with TV shows or movies or video games without hurling something really expensive.

the only book i've ever done this with was one of the house of night books, and i've read some pretty horribly written ya in my time

I know it's great literature, but the way my lit prof kept trying to psychoanalyze every character from a Lacanian perspective pretty much made me hate it enough.

I actually threw it in the trash.

An Inspector Calls. I used it as a "prop" in an assignment for class but it was basically because the play made me so annoyed.
