Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

preferably from the original game over anything else, but any advice is welcome

I'm not a super fan/expert of the character, but what I can say:

Don't play him as a super woobie or super EVILZ. Adachi has a pretty fine line, he has the team/everyone fooled for so long because he knew how to play a bumbling doof to cover his tracks. He was able to keep everyone unaware for a super long time due to being good at this game of pretend. So if someone calls him out for something suspicious/weird behavior, don't have him flip on a dime to 'I WILL KEEL U' unless its really needed. Unless its super incriminating, he can probably laugh it off and play up their OH THAT ADACHI assumption he's gotten them to believe in. I've seen a lot of Adachi's do the evil swerve in games and it's always really been a train wreck to watch.

lets hope another anon pops in to give you a more detailed response since this didn't cover all the bases.

the only thing i worry about is if i play him around the investigation team. how should he act then? should he pretend he's not bitter or whatever or should he just come clean? i guess he should pretend but idk

thanks for trying to help anon, i appreciate it.

Depends on canon point and the general situation. You know, it kind of depends.

anon who answered you earlier

It always sort of depends- if he's been caught bitterness is definitely in order. If they're still unawares, keep it that way, unless you're castmates want to somehow have a big reveal. Far as I know Adachi would want to keep his ruse and not want to out himself in anyway. Especially not in some random jam jar game where his reputation could be completely smoked by the IT kids revealing what he did on a network or via word of mouth.

I'm glad I could kind of help! Rock on, dude and good luck with Adachi!

going off what the above anon said, even if he is in a game with an IT that's solved the mystery and/or are post-true ending, consider that adachi has a whole host of new people to fool. unless the IT have been there for a really long time, these are the same people they need to convince on adachi's true nature. he can always play the but-i'm-a-cop-y'know-one-of-the-good-guys card, or just the plain old who-are-you-going-to-believe play as well. after all, the IT would need to convince people that adachi threw people into tv sets to kill them.

...exactly.

i mean, they can't just go around saying "lol he's a killer" without proof. and if they're in a jamjar, they probably won't have proof. just their word against his. he really shouldn't break down and confess in a situation like that.

I found this helpful advice a while ago, because even in the original game ending it does seem like he's trying to be better. Pre-getting his ass kicked his evil. While in prison he seems to be trying to turn a new leaf.

That's my advice! I'm glad it was helpful. As a postscript, I'd say that at the time of the letter in both games he seems like he's more thinking about being a better person, not fully committing to it or realizing what that means (see him referring to the murders as his "game" and being all "okay I'll abide by the rules of this world SINCE YOU INSISTED"). He's still a jerk, and he has a way to go before I'd personally call him a "good" person.

The upside is that this provides opportunities for character development and internal conflict in-game.
