Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Event related stuff

Anon from the end of last post:

I'm not surprised by the amount of people who are rejecting their rich families to live amongst the poor and help them and so on.

But I am sort of disappointed. Not that I was expecting anything else from Luceti, but I always hope for some moral ambiguity.

I think it depends on the characters? For some characters that would be the IC thing for them to do.

This is an AU event, though. I was looking forward to seeing how new situations and families and such would affect characters personalities and the like.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
yeah but even with the au they should still have similar personalities, i thought. at least that's how everyone i know is playing it. i mean i wouldn't think they would change too drastically?

idk i've seen one or two characters who have some p. big personality shifts due to dramatic changes in their family dynamic.

i am not surprised by it either but my poor character is going to disparage those that do. she's not helpless and she doesn't need their privileged charity. this isn't the blindside.

I'm seeing a lot of character who could conceivably not be so open due to ignorance, but to be honest, I just don't think a lot of people want to deal with the fall out, since most people seem to be playing with the assumption that deep down all the rich folk don't want the poor folk to be oppressed.

Both my character are gonna be poor, so I can't really help tilt the scales in that regard, but I can at least make them hate the wealthy folks? Not much point in having the class division as a plot point if no one's going to use it. There even seems to be far more wealthy characters than unwealthy, too.

I'm surprised that there are so many wealthy characters. I thought that with the textile strike part of the plot, more people would choose to be working class to rattle things up.

got bored and did a count on the google doc spreadsheet (which doesn't seem to represent nearly the amount of people in the game but)

Aristocracy - 33
Middle class - 29 (not including those listed as middle/low)
Lower Class - 38 (including those listed as middle/low)

The spread is more or less even and not everyone has info on the list, but I feel like it should be more unbalanced than this. Unless the mods wanted to put caps on how many characters could be part of a particular social class (which would probably be a bad idea for multiple reasons) no one can really control that.

yeah it seems more like 1/3 are wealthy when it was asked for 1/4 to be wealthy. maybe some people will change their mind and make their characters lower, as long as it makes sense i guess

I think a lot of that is also due to characters being added to families. I'd been planning on making mine middle or lower class but then some of his CR asked if I wanted to join their aristocratic family, and I agreed because I thought it would be fun.

True...A lot of people seem to be sticking to pre-established CR, too, but that's pretty much every event.
