And this is why people shouldn't whine about boy-centric games. They NEVER live long.

dirty vegas lasted. it didn't even have the greatest premise. it's just that the m/m games that came after it were so lackluster. boarding was a boring highschool au and elsera was a decent concept turned dull.

elsera could have been fun but they took a fun idea and made it completely bland

wonder if there's any interest in that military vs. magic m/m game idea floating around awhile back

I know they wound up taking out the m/m aspect and the would be mod flounced due to lack of support, but I'd be willing to throw my weight behind it if I knew people might join

That sounds like an interesting premise, actually! Depends on how it's executed, but anon should definitely give it a go.

If I recall correctly, the premise was originally centered around a sort of late 19th/early 20th century imperialist European world (think Prussia). Closest canon I can use as means of comparison would be something like FMA where you'd have a government headed by a Fuhrer type figure with several nations contained within the overall state that have regional subgovernments, which opens a lot of opportunity for people to mingle between different locations rather than everyone starting at the same point A.

That's the idea I've got in my head, anyway, and probably how I'd set it up. And then the magic end of things would be sort of a secret society, heavily policed in the public arena and sort of a "resistance" movement, though more of a political/factional rivalry and less of a do or die scenario than what games like Exsilium have going on since I feel that's ground that's been tread too many times already.

I'm basically just emptying my brain at this point so it might not be terribly coherent, but if you guys have feedback or other ideas I can toss something up in the game ideas thread and work from there.

I see! That does sound like a promising way to set it up, and it looks like you've got a good starting point. And this would be with m/m? Color me intrigued! If you get this fleshed out and finalized, this is definitely a game I would be looking at with interest!

the would-be mod of that is a friend of mine and she said she didn't want to invite wank by running a game that seemed to be "stealing" elsera's premise, even though they're nothing alike. apparently somebody was really pissed off about it and it looked like wank waiting to happen. but maybe she'll reconsider it now, idk.

i think most of the people who've been following the magic m/m thing are already aware that the magic/military idea came way before elsera. elsera was nothing but a failed substitute anyway.

if any wank comes from it at all i doubt it will be explosive. let's be real, no one cares about elsera.
