If it was witnessing a death/becoming distant from a pack then all of the wolves on the show would have blue eyes by now.

Could depend on the severity.

They mention the girl being mangled and Derek not being allowed to see it. That lack of being able to personally confirm the death could lead to something.

But then there's Cora, if she really is a Hale house fire survivor.

She'd be more in line with the other betas I assume.

I get the feeling that it has something to do with the girl in Derek's case. Specifically the being prevented presumably by an Alpha point.

Omega by choice instead of omega by circumstance.

But then doesn't Scott qualify for that? And did Jackson have any of this?

Maybe it's in relation to werewolves that have killed. We haven't seen Peter's eyes shift yet, so his could be blue. Derek might have killed or been directly involved with a death (or psychosomatically think he was like they've been shoving in our faces how important that is lately) and that's what turns them blue. Jackson certainly did a lot of killing, which would explain his eyes being blue. Maybe Derek either was involved with a death or believes he was, which is why his eyes are blue.

I want to know about the fucking black eyes from the promo. Darach? Or Lydia in some kind of we-don't-know-what-the-fuck-you-are-but-you're-something trance.

Peter's are blue. We got to see them when he was badmindtouching Isaac.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it stated or implied at some point that the Alpha pack have pretty much been after Derek for some reason - linked to his eye color - since he was a kid? Like his family had to tell them to fuck off about it and then Laura took him away from Beacon Hills because of it - which is why they showed up so quickly as soon as he was back and doing werewolf things. So why would their actions in killing the girl cause the eye color if that's what they were there about in the first place?

Or is all of this conjecture? Or being retconned? Or something I imagined in my sleep.

The Alphas are after Scott though.

Peter's eyes are blue. Derek's eyes were blue. But you have to keep in mind that Jackson also had blue eyes.

What do all three have in common? An emotional distance. Jackson straight up tells Derek that he doesn't want to be in the pack. Derek can't seem to function around a group of people. Peter doesn't seem emotional invested in anyone.

I want the reveal so I can just figure out wtf is up with everything and not have to sit here and assume things we should have known in season 1.

No, Deucalion is after Scott. If Kali and the twins have any idea what he's doing, after the whole secretly killing Ennis and laying the blame on Derek, I will eat my hat. But let's just ignore all that stuff I just said because I'm seriously thinking I just hallucinated it or read a too convincing fanfic or something.

Scott didn't want to be in the pack, either. Cora's supposedly been on her own fending for herself for six years, and shows similar signs of the same trust issues/interaction problems as Derek, though I guess most of hers is a tough front that she doesn't manage to keep up all the time.

Peter also states in the promo that something happened to turn Derek's eyes that color, so while emotional distance could be a factor, there definitely needs to be an event as well.

In S2 Derek directly stated that Scott technically had a pack. A pack doesn't seem to be restricted to werewolves, it can be humans. That and he's sort of becoming the main Alpha this season, given how he was able to get Boyd and Isaac under control.
Cora. Cora we don't know enough about. She vanished for six years and only just turned up coincidentally in the same place as Boyd?

Once again. They imply that the factor is the girl. Stiles asked what changed him, Peter says 'a girl' before cutting to the line, 'they wouldn't even let him see the body'.

Potentially revenge based given the glimpse of Derek looking at a spiral.

Yeah I'm not trusting the cuts in the promo tbh because Peter's standing in different places and it's the perfect chance to fuck with us. But yes the girl could definitely be the factor! I was only disputing that when I was working with my weird not-sure-where-the-hell-I-got-it-from Alpha pack has always been after Derek because of his eyes idea. Though also-- why are the Alpha pack at the school attacking the girl in the first place? Unless that's just what the cuts in the promo are leading us to believe is happening.

I think the question is why is anyone at the school in that scene. In the middle of the night.

The Alpha pack, Derek, the girl, younger Peter.

The younger Peter cut is more likely to be from the other set of flashbacks, the one Gerard is telling, which has got to be back in the 70s. He's too young to match younger Derek's age for the sequence with the girl.

Unless that's where they're screwing with us and it's Peter that was dealing with the girl when he was a kid.

Things we know from that promo sequence.

Younger Derek with the girl. Kisses her. Cut to Ennis. Cut to Younger Peter seemingly hiding from Ennis. Cut to the girl running from Ennis.

What if Peter and Derek are closer in age than he think? I mean, you can have young uncles.

Sorry I was watching the extended promo, which is more ambiguous than that (doesn't have younger Derek kissing the girl).

They do keep going on about Derek being older than we think, too.

For an extended promo it actually shows less. Which is weird.

I think for the time being that's the best explanation for younger Peter being there and, well, young. Having their age gap be closer than originally thought.
Because i'm stumped for another explanation as to how that scene could work.

Unless it involves some sort of vision of the future. Which is a guess completely out of the blue.

It has more of the Deucalion & the alphas stuff in it! I think that's why.

It could still be a really weird cut and it's Peter hiding from something to do with that gathering of the alphas before they were the alpha pack. Or they just couldn't be bothered to cast a more adult actor for a younger Peter. So yeah let's go with smaller age gap than we realized for now, lmao.

drive by anon totally disagreeing with the age thing. I can see Peter dating Melissa. I cannot see Derek dating Melissa. Not just because grumpyface sourwolf, but because Derek doesn't look anywhere near old enough to be dating Scott's mom. I'm putting him early-mid 20s and Peter's mid-late 30s. With Gerard talking about his own flashback sequence, I'm betting there's two of them and they both deal with how Peter AND Derek both had their eyes shift to blue from gold.

Doesn't explain the girl though, anon.

Unless the cut of Peter isn't from the sequence with the girl, it just looks like it is.

Guess it's currently a matter of waiting for the sneak peek.

Given that the episode name is visionary, which by definition could mean 'foresight', it still could be a matter of Peter sees the future for some reason.

Idek. This season has trouble making sense during the actual episodes at times. The promos are completely vague.

And here's a really crazy thought going off of that.

What if the girl is Ms Blake. But what if, instead of being the Darach, she's some sort of death signal and she just appears as whatever age her current 'target' happens to be.

I'm just sort of thinking about how they mention death in this promo and her line about not being sure if Derek was dead or not. So. What if she causes death somehow.
