I've been toying with the idea of creating a cast master spreadsheet to share. Would anyone be interested in it? If it's pointless, I won't waste my time naturally but if people would like to have it around I'm absolutely willing to give it a go.

Great! Even if a handful would like it, I'm game. I'll start on it today, might have it ready for the next anon post.

I've been toying with the idea of playing Sam Winchester but I've only seen up to s4. I know I'll have to catch up anyway to the most recent season but can someone give me a rundown on whether or not his character improves or how he really changes before I commit to the idea?

I don't mind spoilers for the record.

Sam changes a lot after season four, so it depends on what you mean by "improves." Does he tell Dean stuff, actually taking responsibility for things, and doesn't act as much on his self-righteous ideals? Then the answer is yes. Season four is a very dark place for Sam, and season five is the aftermath of his mistakes, where he lives with them so heavily that by the end of season five, he's willing to sacrifice himself to stop the apocalypse that he himself was duped into starting. (And he never blames Dean for any of it.)

Does he ever become lighter? No. Seasons six and seven are objectively not good Sam seasons. The writing of him is sketchy, his intelligence is downplayed for the sake of hamfisted plots, and he doesn't actually deal with anything that happened in season five. It's odd, actually.

Season eight is better. Sam does have a weird hookup that involved him running away and returning to the Normal Life idea, which I and a lot of people found to be a weird point of characterization for the writers to return to. Sam becomes a man of letters (there's this weird retcon where the Winchesters were these knowledgeable men who were like hunters but not) and also goes through a storyline that involves him once more having to face death again. Sam actually deals with and communicates some of the stuff he never dealt with in season five, it just feels a little late. (This includes his issues with Dean, but he always set them aside because Dean didn't make half the mistakes he did.)

So, it's up to you! Seasons three and four Sam are probably the most dynamic Sams you can play. Season eight is hard to play from after a point because of that aforementioned storyline, whereas seasons six and seven, if you can make something of them, it might be interesting.

Again, I don't know what you mean by "improve," but I'd love to see more Sams around.

I really, really want to play season 1 ( or 2 ) Dean.

DO PLEASE DO. I wish more people played early Dean. I liked him so much better then.

Saaaame. I mean I do like Dean later on, too, because Dean is my favorite character all around. But I love Dean in the early seasons the most.

BUT YEAH if I can find a game for him I will totally go for it.
