i'm finally reading son of neptune and i went looking for fanart last night and it is amazing how many people are drawing hazel levesque as a white girl with curly auburn hair

did we not read the same book, she is black it's mentioned over and over again and it even says during her backstory that she goes to a school for 'coloreds and natives'

also idgi all of the piper hate - jason's the walking major plothole with no personality and tbh she deserves better than him

I fucking love Hazel but somehow I'm not surprised by the white washing. did nobody read her past or the descriptions of her that well? idk 'bout them but 'school for coloreds and natives' screams black to me

I just hope that when they make the Heroes of Olympus movies it doesn't continue ~~not that I'm holding my breath, look at Annabeth in the first movie - black haired when she's clearly stated to be blonde. guess we can't have smart blondes~~

i adore her, i'm really happy that she and piper and annabeth are all friends in moa, and that percy's kind of an acting big brother figure - it was one of my favorite things about the book, along with nico and hazel's relationship especially since he lost bianca

i hope the friendship continues into house of hades

i'm not holding out much hope at all for the movies after the travesty that was the lightning thief - they're going to have to retcon so much to even make sea of monsters happen and i just ugh that was one of the worst book to movie adaptations i've ever seen; it even got the vibe of camp completely wrong :|

Nico and Hazel's relationship was so adorable. I love all of Hades's kids ~~and Hades having children was one of the things I griped about before I read the series, considering in the original myths he's so faithful to Persephone~~. I really enjoyed the friendships that bloomed in MoA ~~and shipped Frank/Hazel/Leo, I don't care~~.

Sea of Monsters actually looks pretty good from what I've seen of the trailers. They kept Tyson and changed Annabeth back to blonde. I think the only thing I can find to gripe about is the fact that Grover isn't trapped with the Cyclops that gives rise to Percy's whole quest for the book.
