Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I just beat Last Specter and Miracle Mask in the past week and now I'm getting really nostalgic and I'd like to play from it again.

So obviously, instead of trying for somebody low-maintenance like Luke or Flora, I want to play Layton himself, possibly the most setting-specific and intensive character I could pick. I don't feel that I've ever really played a character as time and energy-consuming as I feel Layton would end up being so any advice is appreciated. In particular, I'd really like people's thoughts on games that would fit him well -- I'm eyeing one or two games that might fit him, but it seems really tough to balance things for him to do and meddle with with something that would suit his character. I'm really pretty rusty with him, however, and I know that I'll be sticking to memes and voicetesting for a bit before I app him anywhere.

Additionally, what would be the best way to go about balancing his need to meddle and figure things out IC and OOC plot-hogging, info-modding, etc? I feel like if I played him to the extent that he should be in these regards, I would come off as being generally terrible and annoying, hah.

I'd also really like advice on how to deal with the obvious lack of puzzles in a game setting. I know there's other parts of Layton's character to focus on, and he seems to treat puzzles and mysteries as more of a hobby compared to archaeology. I have the feeling this is how I should go, but I'm just wondering if it seems IC enough to fly.

I know I'm getting stupidly specific after I said anything is appreciated but really, anything at all is helpful!
