Yer wonderful

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

For the record, I always named stuff about other characters and never myself. Doesn't mean the other 95% of people will or have.

And this is why we can't have nice things, that self-servicing attitude. I've never personally felt left out, but guess what? This is a popularity thing. And whenever that comes into play people are gonna feel left out. Anon asked for opinions and I gave mine; if it's solely for ships then I think it's too overdone and circle-jerky. People dropping things on anon-comms is fine but having a journal solely for shipping? No other entertainment purpose either like the fic comm? Yeesh. It does nothing productive and let's face it, people are gonna get hung up on it. That's just how RPers function.

I guess it's fine and dandy if you don't care about your game-mates but I do. IMO it's better go to without the dumb ship journal.

I'd prefer seeing a comm or journal dedicated to fanworks. Fics, drawings, doodles, memes, random capslocking, etc, which could include all kinds of CR, including ships. The fic comm is great.

Sorry, but it just sounds like you're complaining about other people not having fun the way you want to have fun. If people want to ship, discuss it here, and have a journal to go along with it, who cares? You don't have to contribute, and if you want to talk about something else, do so. We're not exactly known for being unfriendly about that. I never, ever felt shipping was circle-jerky, and that's coming from someone who is normally shy and doesn't get namedropped for "being the best" ever.

Seriously, I have no idea why you're trying to make the argument that fun should be productive. This isn't a job, a lot of people like shipping, a lot of people are going to be into it. It is, as you said, just how RPers function.

>> Would anyone oppose to having another journal for the ships category?

I'm not complaining about other people "not having fun the way [I] want to have fun". Anon asked, and I oppose for reasons I've mentioned earlier, that's really all there is to it. It's extremely circle-jerky and I won't contribute if it happens again, which it likely will.

It's not the matter of fun needing to be productive, the ship journal literally had no other use other than "hey look at how many people want to bone my character! look!" and as I said before, if it included more than just romantic ships, that'd make it even just a little better.

+1

pretty much this. it got sickening when people where "i ship this with my character!" all over the place just for the sake of having a longer line. also plurk got super whiny. i remember melon getting super pa about not having as many ships as other people. it just leads to drama.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wow are you full of shit because she's about the least PA person I know in this PA-addled hobby and there was absolutely no "drama" that you're referring to. Nice try at stirring wank, but you're in the wrong place for it.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
you obviously never had to deal with her PA flaky app-drop ass in Amat.

Literally choking on my own saliva here. Really? Where the heck have you been? Melon is PA. And she did whine about that on plurk, how she needed more people to ship Mineva with because her list was so short.

And yep, my plurk was full of people whining about how their lists were short too, it's not like she was the only one. So gonna +1 to that, too.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, really. If you want to take a dump on someone, be my guest, but don't expect anyone to believe you if all you're going to do is shout PA PA PA and offer vague details that don't prove anything. My experiences with her have been the opposite of what you and anon above you are describing and she's never been anything but polite in mutual plurks.

Go find me this plurk where she's supposedly whining, because I'm pretty sure you're either misreading what she actually said or blowing it out of proportion, and then we'll have something to discuss. Otherwise, take the wannabe wank to the comm it belongs in.

While I wouldn't have started off that way, I didn't see any whining either and I'm glad I'm not the only one, mostly just players giggling about what wound up there together with at least a few going "ahaha wow, don't worry guys they're just platonic."

That said, I agree a general fanworks comm would be more fun, maybe with a page or entry for shipping/bromance/rivalshipping with screened comments for add-ons, or even an index of works and entries for ones as they turn up.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's probably because there wasn't any. I have most of the game added and I didn't see any whining worth mentioning going on. Saying your ship list is too short does not qualify and chances are if someone was being obnoxious about it, they're just an obnoxious person better off avoided in general. Why would you take something this trivial seriously to begin with?

I don't care one way or another about a separate comm. It's when people start trying to policing how others should have their fun, or stirring the pot for drama's sake, when the eye rolling starts.

Anything related to shipping with Melon always leads to drama. She's been like this since Amat and it stands to reason that this will continue. She gets super invested and is a terrible example, because one moron =/= the whole game.

Seriously, if people want to giggle over ships, it's fine. You don't have to look at it. Stop being mad over imagined slights.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Melon got PA on her plurk?

Deets or it didn't happen, bro, unless it was 9+ months ago. Haven't seen ANYTHING like that.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-10 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd prefer seeing a comm or journal dedicated to fanworks.

Then make one, and let other people have their shipping comm.

Stop trying to police how other people have fun because you're butthurt.
