rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. What I don't understand is why the majority of DWRP is desperate for castmates. Why is having a cast more important than picking the right premise, or awesome cross-canon CR prospects, or a good OOC community?

op here. this is part of why i asked this question to begin with.

dwrp seems to love panfandom games yet everyone wants castmates are you not understanding panfandom.....?

to be fair, it is not like there is thousands of single canon games for people to choose from. if there was, i'd take this complaint more seriously, but as it is, if you wanna rp in a game, it is gonna be panfandom by default.

This. Plus sometimes it's still fun to share that whole NEW WORLD experience with certain characters and see how it might change their canon CR. Maybe they were mortal enemies back home, or they may be characters who never meet in canon.

Yeah, I joined because "panfandom", but that doesn't mean I can't want to see canon CR shaken up by a new setting and premise, too. A game could be a really fun place to explore the what-if's. Otherwise I'd just musebox.

That's part of the appeal for me, personally.

I'm probably not the norm, but I usually want one or two specific castmates because I think it'll be fun to bounce my character off of them and/or explore dynamics that wouldn't happen in canon because A dies or B never really talks with C or whatever. That said, not a fan of huge casts.
