Waiting to actually see what happens before apping and getting jossed?

i'm not sure i get why people are so quick to write off everyone in this series as unappable. armin and mikasa have fairly well-defined backstories, motivations, and personalities. same with eren, who would icly be just as surprised as the readers by any twists that happen. sasha and connie are pretty safe bets too. jean you could argue either way, given his role as a character versus his lack of revealed backstory, but i'd be okay seeing him in a game.

i understand there's a lot of twists and anyone who picked up the shifters too early would've been pretty boned, though their total lack of history should've prevented that anyway. armin could be an evil mastermind, marco could be a titan that faked his death, who knows. but how people are responding to the very idea of casts here seems a little unnecessarily catty.

anon ia with you so much. most of them have playable personalities. if you're unsure about something backstory wise you can always get fudge it/ignore it and just focus on the voice. if you get jossed in the end oh well who cares it's rp we can fix it in a number of ways.

we shouldn't be so afraid of being "embarrassed" by potential plot twists that we wait years to app. we're just catering to hugely overinvested losers who are obsessed with perfection in rp.

honestly, i think all the "IT'S TOO EARLY TO APP" bitching is being directly imported from the homestuck fandom. it was always their favorite argument to use, after all.

Homestucks who used 'it's too soon' as a reason for people not to app were talking about the Ancestors and friends. Those were one-note characters who were never going to get any information beyond what we saw in their mini-arc.

Titans is a whole different situation - we know these characters have important backstories and we know we're going to see them eventually. They're also main characters while, let's be real, the 'too early to app' homestuck characters were instantly forgettable.

actually i'd say that's only true for the titan shifters and maybe christa.

Armin and Mikasa are playable in games, sure, and Jean does have actual character development and a clear motivation even if he doesn't have the backstory to go with it. Connie and Sasha are probably safe bets too, since we've seen (some of) Sasha's backstory aaand I doubt Connie's mother was actually a Titan. There's bound to be another reason for that whole thing.

Too bad people are more interested in playing characters like Eren, Levi, Hange, Ymir, Krista, Reiner and Bertolt. You know, characters we know next to nothing about and, in most cases, are full of spoilers and unexplained plot-points.

i think the implication was that connie's mother turned into a titan, not that she was a titan all along. it's just as feasible as anything else, imo, though not likely to be as obvious as it comes off as.

but anyway, i haven't seen a single reiner, bert, ymir, or krista in a game, so i'm not certain where your irritation there is coming from. the latter two i would wait for this arc to be over, but they do have relatively clear personalities so i wouldn't care if they were apped anyway. levi is tricky because we have secondhand, vague backstory, but his personality is well-defined. hange doesn't have tons of backstory, but her motivations/personality are pretty clear so i don't see why jean is okay but she isn't. we know both of them were in the scouting legion for more than five years so that helps too. eren obviously has some plot twists to him, but again the personality/motivations are there and again, he would be just as surprised icly as anyone playing him because of weirdo amnesia.

ftr i'm being generous to try prove a point, i wouldn't app half these characters myself, and of course there's the possibility of being jossed in any ongoing. but i'd be fine seeing some of them in games because like someone else said, i'm okay with people having to adjust to new backstory/plot twists instead of waiting a million years and most of them have enough to work with. with such an unpredictable series there are risks involved, but some of the characters seem fun to play and if people want to try them in games, whatever nbd.

to be honest though, i was mostly peeved by how condescending this thread got to an innocent question. things like "bad fad appers what do you expect" or "too bad people are more interested in..." etc. again, some of it just sounds unnecessarily catty.
