As a potentially interested anon, how much non-smut happens too?

Don't get me wrong I love me some smut but if it's literally only smut I'm not sure that'd hold my attention too well.

There is actually a lot of non-smut going on. Player plots, getting info on Ariel and its surroundings, and a lot of general CR as well. Honestly though with AC so dependant on 10+ smut tags the gen stuff can be pushed aside to make sure AC is covered first.

what the above anon said. my character currently has more gen than smut threads going on atm, but i always make sure for both myself and my partners that ac is met early in the month before i focus more attention on gen threads.

with only 10 comments needed to fulfill ac, this can be easily accomplished in one thread, leaving you with the ability to have however many more you feel comfortable playing in.

i'm also intimidated as fuck.

is there anything i should know before i throw my character off the deep end and post them?

the cr meme goes up day after tomorrow. post to it, but be sure to offer some concrete ideas of kinks you'd like to play. people respond well to specificity. be aware that you'll have to be proactive with your cr, but don't be afraid to jump in and plot. other than that, there's a big mingle log in the log comm for this month's toy fair event, it's a good place for tagging out and meeting new characters.

As above anon said, the CR/Kink meme is (well for me) tomorrow (the 13th). One thing that I've noticed helps is make sure you tag other people on it, don't wait for them because even if they want CR w/ your character a lot of time they don't get around to hitting you up about it.

Check out what's being offered. Don't be afraid to check kink lists and see if there is something listed that isn't mentioned but you'd be up for and could work with something they did list.

Instead of just throwing up an intro post, go hit up a few people on the toy fair log. Since it's your first month you can use gen or smut for AC so make friends or friends.

Don't be afraid to contact people by PM or other methods either. It really helps to talk to each other in this game. No REALLY.

Thanks. I've contacted a few people and have some stuff moving already. I think I'm going to be okay.

A while back, I posted about having reservations joining CoA, based on all the crap that went down at wg, seemingly every post. I was reassured by anons here that it wasn't representative of the game at large. I'm reporting back after joining for other anons that may be considering, but hesitant for the same reason.

It is the most welcoming large game I have ever seen. The people are friendly, receptive, up front and honest. There is no shortage of gen or smut opportunities, regardless of your character type, age, or cast size. There is actual communication between players, that I haven't seen nearly as much of anywhere else.

There may or may not be wank somewhere; it's a huge game.

but it's wanky reputation is really, really undeserved.

i'm so happy that you're finding the game welcoming and fun. i know i feel the same way about it.

Most of the people who cause issues in the WG threads aren't even in game they just like to shit in the water.

This has been my experience too anon. Everyone I've intereacted with has been very friendly and open to CR. My character isn't popular at all but I've never had problems getting CR in this game versus some of the others I've played this character in; every time I post to the CR meme I always get interest.

It really doesn't feel any wankier than any other game its size. I think a big tell that the game isn't as wanky as people might think from the wankgate thread is that it's survived passing through the hands of multiple mod teams without falling apart. Every time that happened there was an outpouring of support in the OOC comms to keep the game alive and volunteers stepping up. I remmeber people specifically encouraging others to keep posting and keep the game active and doing so themselves when there was doubt it would survive.

Everyone I talk to OOC really seems to enjoy the game so I honestly am not sure where most of the negativity on wankgate comes from.
