Yer wonderful

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
like 2008

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 01:47 am (UTC)(link)

pretty much ditched it aside from when plurk goes dumb

aim (well, the imo or pidgin client) is still my main form of contact with the people i talk to regularly. plurk is fine for casually staying in touch, but it's annoying to have to private plurk when i want to have a 1 on 1 conversation, and the phone/tablet interfaces i've tried have been really clumsy. aim keeps better track of conversations, too... i really don't get all the hate for aim. it's a decent chat service that works well on a variety of devices.

i do but i only talk to two people i've talked to on it since aim was cool. i don't give out my sn anymore because a) no one uses aim and b) the people who do im me get clingy and weird really fast. yes, i know i'm online and not away. that doesn't mean i'm obligated to talk to you 100% of the time.

bonus shoutout to the people who used to im me when i was away and periodically go "sooo... still not here, huh?"

yes, i know i'm online and not away. that doesn't mean i'm obligated to talk to you 100% of the time.

this is exactly why i stopped using aim tbh.

this is why i started permanently setting my status to away. it's usually true anyway, i'll talk for a few minutes then get up and do something else before i check the computer again.

i mean it discourages people who don't know me very well from even trying to initiate conversation, but tbh that's fine by me.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
i use it all the time tbh

i used to have msn but it's shit for mac so i just use aim

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
i still rp some of my psls on aim. it's just convenient to be able to play characters with my friends without worrying about making journals or setting up a musebox. we use it for chatting, too. but i'm often invisible and i keep a very small list of people who can contact me.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
it's my main form of communication, bar none

i don't just use it for rp either i still talk to people i know irl through aim

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
i keep aim up a lot but that's mostly just because there's one person i use it to talk to a lot

it's also a convenient way to have for someone to contact me if they want though i'm really not a conversational person and prefer to just use it to set something up easily with the exception of a few people i enjoy talking to

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Only in weekends and to speak to like... two or three people tops. But I've have had occasional talks with some gamemates about plots since I don't use plurk.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
i do! i used it a couple of hours ago. i only talk to one or two people on it though.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I still use it as my preferred means of communication. There's two people I talk to regularly, some IRL friends, old friends that I catch on the rare occasion they log in... I have no reason to stop using it, and I wish I had more RP friends on AIM.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
i have a window open right now actually.

i still keep it around through trillian because skype doesn't work on my 3DS, and having the same person added on both AIM and skype is handy. it lets me use one for RP and another for ooc chatting.

i also have some annoying friends on skype whose status is ALWAYS set to online and i cannot tell when they're idle because they're too lazy to set their status to auto-away. adding them on AIM too fixes that problem, because i can just look on AIM.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
i do, daily. not in any games so it works for people i have psls with and long distance friends/family.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
If I'm on the computer for a good couple of hours, I have it running in the background.

Just in case.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
i use it for only close friends or immediate rp questions

plurk is perfect because you don't really get close to people therefore avoid weirdos

(Anonymous) 2013-07-11 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I bring mine up every few days to see who's on. Depends if crap is happening irl how often, but I like it better than plurk for some things

I still miss Game Chats :'(

(Anonymous) 2013-07-11 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
it's my primary means of communication outside of irc. gchat for people who don't have aim. i don't have plurk or skype because they are useless for anything i need to do.
