Some stuff I've observed that we could use:

-Someone in real estate who could potentially help out with establishing safe houses for the people who don't look quite human
-Doctors who aren't general practitioners. Most needed are likely a dentist and an ophthalmologist with all the weird tooth and eye changes people are having. A vet may be useful for Stella, Gomez, Regina, and Cinderella along with any future animal characters (also Sarah and Julien once they start changing more). While we have a psychiatrist, another won't hurt at all since Mort will likely be overwhelmed soon enough.
-Store owners/managers. Could help in the future if people have special needs for that sort of thing. Clothing and food are likely needs
-Maybe a mechanic? Basically someone who can fix cars with no questions asked about how it happened and also available for some of the weird hours that are likely to be needed.

Other random things that likely will be useful, but not immediate needs:

-in the future having someone working at the local morgue will likely help for being able to deal with stuff like dead Vermedi with no questions asked. Also in case any of the undead residents end up there they can get them out.
-Maybe someone who works in local agencies like the DMV and such.

I'm probably missing some things, but those are the ones I've seen personally that may be handy now or in the near future.

I'm actually considering a veterinarian, but wasn't sure if our medical character count is enough as is.

We only have Mordin and Aaron for doctors and they are general practitioners. Don't think we have anyone who can handle animals.

Playing a mortician could be a lot of fun. I'm writing an app right now and I think I'm going to put that into their history.

bookmarking! this is a great list. i have a perfect mechanic on my roster but i'm afraid he's too similar to another character i play.

I was kind of thinking of having my character own a hotel chain. But he's an obnoxious jerk so while he'd let people stay at one of his hotels for whatever reason he'd probably want them to put in time working off their stay

Would characters be willing to stay somewhere (including food, medical and clothes if needed) if they had to work at some sort of themed fantastical races/horror house hotel to pay their tab?

that sounds like the best CR opportunity I could think of holy crap anon do it!

If I get in I'll try to aim for setting this up with my character then, thanks anons!

I'm considering a gearhead type. He knows how to deal with motorcycles and robots in canon, though I'm not sure if I want to keep him an engineer or switch him to medicine and echo the mechanic LURRRRVE back later, for maximum confusion. Ah, decisions decisions.

*also bookmarks this thank you so much for the list!*

If I ever finish my app, my next character isn't in real estate, but due to Shenanigans she owns a rather large house on the outside of town by herself (mostly due to a divorce and having a fantastic lawyer). until she starts getting her own really unfortunate Echoes she should be able to use it as a safe house

sa

Another one I thought of: hair stylist/makeup artist. Someone who does it for theater is fine. But could be useful with the weird hair color changes and the scars people are getting and then drastic changes like Anthony's.

oh man I have a character who would be perfect for this! I gotta remember to work on my app.

Not actually certain of the usefulness of an earth-trained vet for some of those animal characters - the ponies, and Julien's and Stella's final forms, in particular. While they'd have a better start point than a GP, these are not standard animals, and indeed are considerably anthropomorphized. (Or mostly - I'm canonblind to Hatoful, but it's clear uplifted pigeons are not exactly like standard pigeons.)

I admit, Joysweeper knows Hatoful canon better than I do, but at least am not entirely canonblind. Birds in Hatoful actually are mostly more intelligent than normal birds and have adapted in their ability to use human things, but not so much in size. Though I will also fully admit that Hatoful doesn't even try to stick to realism at times. The art definitely shows normal bird sizes, yet one of the birds has a motorcycle that can fit a human, that has me going WTF? Yet we see Nageki reading a book and the books are bigger than he is.

But looking at the echoes Joysweeper is requesting, she's specifying that everything is sized up to fit a human so Julien doesn't die from his echoes. I get the overall impression that he's going to be a giant pigeon and likely then shrink to correct pigeon size.

So to the point, a vet will likely be more helpful with him down the road. Right now a vet would definitely have to confer with a GP and he's likely going to need both until he fully changes over.

Hi!

Scale is pretty inconsistent in Hatoful Boyfriend.

In the text of the game Yuuya's big enough to walk hand-in-wing with the human protagonist, he's able to slam into her hard enough to knock her over, and when he's killed in one route and his body prepared the protagonist thinks it's either a chicken or a turkey. Chickens can be huge! Turkeys even more so!

But then you have official art showing humanforms with birdforms, which is all over the place. Sakuya's birthday, Yuuya's birthday, Okosan attacking Tohri and humanity surrendering. In the manga their furnishings and books and so on are all scaled to fit them, and it's unclear if that means huge birds or tiny furniture or something in between.

I may or may not shrink Julien to turkeychicken size eventually. It would mean shortening his lifespan considerably - larger birds live longer than smaller ones. I want that addressed at some point, but following through... Not sure.

/cough I overthink birds sometimes. Anyway! Human versus animal medicine! He's not going to end up exactly like our standard pigeons just larger, but there won't be much human in him either. Or... possibly none but eye color. Hatoful birds are all pretty much mutated from normal birds and various things are different. Treatmentwise a vet would have a leg up on a GP, just not a total advantage. Even if you find an avian vet. They're less common than mammal vets!
