Bless your heart

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: In-person interaction

The last couple of months have been really slow, and open logs have been especially thin, but activity across the board has been suffering, too. People seem to be pretty worn out at the moment, and the mods haven't been around as much.

It's not that it's not kosher, I think it's really just because it's a different group of people, maybe, than you're used to, and we've just not gotten into the same habits as other games. I know I for one would be more than happy to go to action, particularly if it's obvious that a character is recording their post in a public place, such as the medbay. I think it's just a case of asking.

I would actually love more open logs/more people doing face-to-face stuff. I remember back when the network went down and you could only use the comms for contacting one specific person; it'd be nice if there was more stuff like that happening in game, forcing people to interact in person.

I do a lot of in person interaction, personally, it's just mostly done with established CR in inboxes and stuff, or it comes up through the conversation as it happens. We just had the pirates event force everyone off the network, straight after another network malfunction with the genetics lab plot, and then the network downtime over December. That's three plots forcing people off the network in the last six months, so I don't think it's actually as simple as that. I definitely do more in person stuff than I did, and I think that's due to my character's paranoia, something which I'd like to see pushed a little harder.

This is a horror game, and I'd like to see more suspicion, reasons to suspect other characters of being in league with the enemy, something like that. More mind games means more paranoia, and it's better to have the characters make an enemy of themselves, which should drive them off the network a little more. In the end, though, I think that the characters electing to move off it themselves is a lot more effective in the long term than trying to shoehorn people off the network. It's a place some characters and players thrive. I think it's just that we need more things happening period.
