The fact that your friend won't reserve just because of the crossover events is kind of hilarious when there were actually people getting upset that the crossover events were so few and far between.

Tell her to get over it. There are always ways to get out of events if you don't want to participate and it's not like they're going to be happening all the time.

where were all of you when the game planning was going on? most of the responders liked the idea which is why it's the way it is. good golly

What is hilarious about this? If I apply to a M/M game, I don't want to interact with female characters. That is the entire point of a game like this. Events like this shouldn't even exist - and a few people sameanoning to make them happen doesn't make them better.

NAYRT (honest!)

Multiple people liking something you don't like does not a sameanon make. You're way too distraught over this. It's going to be okay.

Wait, I thought the point of an M/M game was to play M/M ships, not to avoid female characters altogether.

but icky girls ruin the sanctity of male love. the briefest interaction with females could prove detrimental to even the mightiest of male hearts!

but yeah, anon sounds like a hand flapping yaoibrat (so does op's friend). they're just occasional events and i'm sure players can opt out of them. the basis of the game is still m/m so dry your buttery tears.

But isn't the point of the game to be "boys only" or "girls only"? Not just about shipping, it was originally supposed to be something like "all of the men suddenly disappeared and then the girls became magical" and vice versa. I have no idea why they decided to change that. It shouldn't have even been possible for the men and women to meet because the entire population of men or women was simply gone.

yeah, i was the anon who originally brought this up because of some manga i had found. then someone mentioned parallel worlds that were unknowingly affecting each other. and it just went from there.

i don't like that they're now apparently just across the country from each other, but i guess that makes crossover events easier. whatever

But I liked the idea of characters having to deal with there just being no one of the opposite gender, at all, and how that would effect their worldbuilding.

Now it's just magical girl/boy schools.

Same here. I think it's a neat idea to have two games with essentially the same premise but with different genders. I just don't see what the mixed interactions are going to add to either of the games if the characters are gaining more power by strengthening same sex relationships.

The emphasis on the school bothers me too. It wasn't supposed to literally be magical BOYS. I know the mod mentioned otherwise in the FAQ but the set up sure does cater to younger characters unless you want to play a teacher. Guuuuh.

I still plan to app but I wish there were more than just a school and bunch of restaurants. This game is in dire need of a suggestions box.

yeah... i have to agree. i was one of the people really excited about magical boys/girls but i'm not so big on the whole being set on opposite coasts thing. i really likes the fact that men/women vanished, leaving one gender behind and then characters dealing with that. just because the magical girls are on the other coast doesn't mean there are no regular women/men anywhere nearby. i don't really feel like it encourages the m/m or f/f aspect that well.

i'd really love a game with the original idea be created. this game is fine, it's not awful by any means, but it's just not what i was looking for. i like the fact that relationships are the base of powers. not so big on the way the setting is set up. i guess i wanted more magic, like the magical girl animes tend to be... not so technical about it. and i'm a pretty avid fan of secret identities too so that doesn't work that well in this premise.

honestly, at this point it doesn't even have to be based on slash shipping for me. i just want a game where you can be shameless magical girls/boys, where love conquers all, and things are really silly and dramatic and cute.

This anon reserved pretty much on the basis of "Well, magical girls/boys would be fun!" But the game has so much other stuff going on in so many different directions (the hazy school setting, the mandatory gay, the sister game w/crossover events) that I'm increasingly sure I at least don't want to toss my hat in for the first month or two.

i don't really feel like it encourages the m/m or f/f aspect that well.

Yeah, this. Not that there can't be m/m or f/f while the other gender is around, even if distant, but it would definitely make characters do some rethinking and be more open if they had no other choice. Otherwise you'll just have characters who don't have reason to consider being gay when being straight is just a month's crossover away. Take away the no boys/no girls at all setting and keeping it to m/m and f/f becomes just an ooc thing since there's no point in-game to keeping it that way.
