Which would seem incredibly backwards.

Derek didn't shed a single tear on-screen in relation to his sister's death, sure he looked miserable but he didn't cry. Prime time to get that crying in would have been that one scene with comatose Peter.

But Erica? Who willingly left? Got to turn on the waterworks for that.
